Villanova Game Thread

i think D'Lo hurt us at the end of the game. i think his biggest problem is whenever he shoot's he always tries to fall into the defender to draw a foul which he does with great success. but all of his shots are off balance and it seems hes more concerned with drawing the foul than making the bucket. so when he's not being guarded tightly instead of trying to make the bucket he's looking to see he could fall into when he shoots

We didn't play bad. and you can't blame Lavin for this We can't shoot ,so opposing teams pack the inside . What happened to Sanchez? He only took 2 shots 0 rebounds and assists.Sheed looked very good, only thing he is missing, like everyone else is an outside shot. DLo needs to be more efficient, but he sure gets to the free throw line and makes them. Not Dissapointed w this game. Sure would love Lavin to get us a JC shooter and quality big.Unfortunately Hooper was ineffective.

people say oh you can`t blame Lavin for their shooting, so is it Norm`s recruits or his own?
I believe he recruited them.

Better game today, but again can`t finish the game. 0-3, 9-6 So am I wrong in saying that our next 4 (including Dartmouth) are must wins or it`s lights out for the rest of the season? Or atleast until BE tournament play.

Oh and what happened to Sanchez this season? NBA prospect huh, and yet again other quiet game (4 stinking pnts).
I give up on him.

One thing that I have learned over the years from reading this site. Don't believe the hype when it comes to evaluating our recruits or players. You will always be disappointed.

StJohns fans are desperate for a winner and consequently build up all incoming players. I recall being told that Monmouth transfer Alpha Bangura (yes newcomers that was his real name) was the real deal and the kid was not Big east talent. I could put a long list of recruits proclaimed to be "can't misses" by the spinsters that includes Nurideen Lindsey who some posters worried that he would be a "one and doner" to the NBA but rather transferred after just one semester into obscurity at might Rider University where he produced mediocre statistics and quit after one year.

I was referring to Lavins in game coaching today. I have been critical of his coaching. He can't just go out and recruit the highest rated recruits, he has to balance out the roster.

I like jordan, but add him to the list of recruits that cant shoot a lick. I cant recall him EVER hitting a jump shot. Who were the idiots in the media proclaiming him as 1 and done?

Sanchez played a total of 12 minutes
He can't guard anybody without fouling
Hooper 1 for 5 from 3 point range in 18 minutes
He's only good against a zone when he can stand still and shoot
If he has to create his own shot, fuggetaboutit!!

The key to this game was at about 6 minutes to go Harrison dribbled at half court losing the ball after being double teamed. Nova scored on a three point play, that was a five point turnover. This happened after Jordan had sparked the Redmen to another lead. Why didn't we look for him down the stretch? Instead, Harrison needed to be more under control. Oh, I forgot the coach should be in charge.

Who ever called him a 1 and done?

At some point, if this team is going to be successful, it needs to get over the hump and start winning these games.

Yeah, and if we score at least one more point than the other team, we will win a game

Maybe but chances are it will be too late for an ncaa berth. Short of winning the bet we are quickly running out of chances.

On the positive side I thought that StJohns played perhaps its best basketball of the season during 14 to 10 minute mark of the second half. I recall a pick and roll and nice pass for an easy layup and other controlled offensive and defensive plays.

Actually, I cannot argue with that. But seriously, this team can be a good time, and I think that most people realize that. That's what makes it particularly frustrating to see games like this one slip away.

Stop being positive. Its not your forte.
