The criticism on Lavin is funny to me. We did try a zone and they carved us up with 3s. It's very tough for us to win on the road because with the home crowd behind you it's much easier to establish the pace and and nova kept it halfcourt and tore our undermanned team to shreds.

At MSG we kept the pace much faster and were in a position to win until both Dom and CO fouled out. I hope we get a shot at them next Friday and control the tempo, which IMO is much easier to do with Jamal branch in the game.

Too much negativity on here for my liking, we are a lock for the tournament. I know the haters were waiting to come out after the Xavier and Georgetown games but never got their chance, now they are out in full force.

This board has gotten way to full of personal jabs and hate. You'd think we'd be able to come together as fans of a team making their first tournament appearance in half a decade and what our 4th as a program in 15 years? You'd think we could enjoy this experience and enjoy getting called on selection Sunday without all the fighting. You'd think...

Fun, as I look at your monument of 100 point games, I am somewhat disappointed at not being able to find the asterisk next to the title so you could put the disclaimer in the in 2015 the coach did not play 2 of his players that are in regular rotation. I am sure it was and oversight on you part.

Maybe some halftime adjustments would've Made this less of and embarrassment instead of playing with his gel and comb?

Wow, I'm pretty sure 'Nova is still scoring on us. I came away even more impressed by them yesterday, excuses aside, they are very good and whipped us in a 5 minute span in a way that I can't remember against a decent SJU squad. They deserve a ton of credit and I think they will be a force at the dance. As for us, I think our boys showed poor individual defense, especially Harrison and Jordan, who get exposed by quality guards. We still settle for one jumper possessions way too much, and we don't survive games when Sir'Dom isn't playing well as opposed to the others, with which we can deal more effectively.
'Nova reminds me of 98-99 UConn, we just aren't beating them no matter how many games, we need them to beat themselves.
As for the hair gel, Lavin's lack of adjustments, etc., I'll leave that to those who have waited (not so) patiently for a few weeks to enjoy a game where the outcome fits the narrative. Coaching 101 tells you , if you are a Coach of any pride, you don't allow your team to lose as disgracefully as ours did yesterday.. You don't pull your players and put in SUBS who have no business on the floor in a league game, .. Lavin did and allowed everyone in the Country to see what a poor COACH and Competitor he is..

Avon could be on to something. We may need to make a change in coaches based on their grooming needs at halftime. If Lavin is let go I see only one coach that would hit the ground running and not require hair gel. The weird connection is that in 2012 in an interview Lavin stated he had "inside" information that this potential St. John's coaching candidate was headed to Illinois. Wouldn't it be hysterical if he replaces Lavin at St. John's. :lol:

I will give you this. If Bobby Knight was our coach, there is no way our guys roll over on defense in the second half. I wouldn't care if all my subs fouled out, but I woudl have had them scrapping and hammering before allowing Nova to have their way inside.

This was a humiliation and, if you are truly a St John's fan and student of the game or, a Alum of the school, this is nothing, zero, nada, less than a disgrace.. Make no mistake this NOVA TEAM IS EXCELLENT, ONE OF THE BEST TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY.

We all know Villanova will beat SHU/Marq on Thursday, I hope we beat PC.
I'd like to see where there head is at and if they have any heart in the 3rd game with Villanova. The first 25minutes won't matter, since it's late in the game when they start to destroy us inside.

If they truly give a shit, and don't want to look like chicks again them, then they will fight Villanova all damn 40minutes.
