Its amazing how different an experience everyone has with the shot.  I had the 2nd Pfizer shot last Tuesday.  It wasn't crippling but I had mild fever and chills, slight headache for 24-36 hours.  Some aches and pains for another day then I felt fine.

I know some people are hesitant to get the 2nd shot because they don't want to get any symptoms.  All I can say is the 36 hours post 2nd shot were a MUCH better experience than when I had Covid in Feb last year.

Getting the first shot and avoiding the second shot makes no sense to me.

If the cardiologist tells you they you need two stents, one now and one in two months to get heart healthy, you get the first and say, forget about the second?

If you are going for cancer treatments with a twenty treatment regimen to eradicate your cancer, you wouldn't stop at ten treatments.

it's crazy how bad people are at following instructions.

yes, some people are just careless and don't care.

but will give the benefit of the doubt and say that having to go out of the way for a 2nd dose, to a location that isn't near you can be a pain. my wife was able to get an appointment in the middle of brooklyn on a weekday (we live in manhattan). i had to take day off from work, twice, to drive there.  at one point we even considered taking appointments in yonkers.  given appointment shortage, people will take any cite just from the pure excitement of securing a spot.

all that being said, one dose is better than nothing.  i read a study that moderna and pfizer, both have 80% efficacy after just one dose.

we're all going to need boosters 1x a year.  the future will depend on everyone cooperating and getting those yearly follow-ups.

Oh let me elaborate: a medium-sized hangover for me is pretty much how you described your symptoms.

It just wasn't the Long-Island-Iced-Tea-Mixing-With-Beer-And-Wine hangover of my youth (before I knew how to drink like an adult) that left me in agony the next day afraid to move an inch without pain.

If anyone has doubts about getting the vaccine because this thing is almost over, I just heard a couple of chilling stories.

An appliance repairman came to our house last week and I told him we were fully vaccinated but would wear masks if he preferred.  He teared up and said he buried his dad, who he worked with, the prior week.  His dad received the first vaccine, but went in and out of a lot of houses repairing appliances.   He was feeling better ok at first and then nosedived.

The other story was from a new friend whose family just listed her grandmother's home.  Her grandma lived year on the east end, and last december went to the hospital for something routine,  contracted Covid-19 and never came home.

I had no reactions to either Pfizer dose, and in fact didn't even feel the 2nd injection.

Get the effing vaccine.  Its flat out stupid not to.

Beast of the East,

Thanks, great post, man. There is no reason not to get the vaccine other than a kind of stubborn ignorance that does no one any good. All six people in my family have gotten fully vaccinated with the worst reaction being minor flu symptoms and sore shoulders. A no brainer.

Didnt want to respond to this in the butler thread so here i will. This is part of a post from the butler thread.

It doesn’t seem to matter what we do, mask, don’t mask, stay away from crowds

My response is short. If people truly mask up in the situations they should be. They work.

Refrain from person to person contact, be careful what you touch, and wash hands frequently.   After more than a year of no handshakes and hugs really appreciated them - now it's back to these awkward waves.

Had Covid in Feb. Got vaccine in May + June. Pfizer. Reaction to vaccine was more severe then Covid itself, but only for about 48 hours. Haven't felt well for past week. Did home test 2 days ago which was negative. But both my brother and daughter did home tests in past week which were negative, but follow up tests showed positive results. I just got tested at pop up site on 79th. Results in 24-48 hours. Since I don't have any more symptoms, and since my family decided late last night to postpone our Christmas get together, I'm kinda hoping results are positive so that I can get this out of the way. Especially since I think we're all gonna get it at one point or another. Stay healthy all, and Merry Christmas.

Monte, my middle daughter who lives in Jersey City and was supposed to join us here for Christmas got a call from her dance class instructor that the instructor had tested positive. She did two at home tests and tested negative but then did follow up test at local testing place and was positive. She of course cancelled her flight here and thankfully was only sick with flu like symptoms for about 4-5 days. She was fully vaccinated and boosted. This one is pretty clearly very contagious. Hope you get over your symptoms quick. Best of luck to all over the next several weeks.

Thanks Eric. You'll appreciate this. I had a 4 team teaser getting an extra 13 points. Won with Army on Wednesday. Had UCF +20, 49ers +9.5. Both Ws. The other game was North Texas-Miami, Ohio over 41.5 total points. At halftime they were at 34 points. With 10 minutes to go in the 3rd they were at 41 points. That's how the game ended. Neither team scored the rest of the game and I lost a 4 team teaser by 1/2 point. That's why they call it gambling lol

Thanks NCJ. Glad you're daughter is ok. My daughter and I are both doing ok now. I'd say we're about 95%. This thing is never completely going away IMO, but hopefully between vaccines, precautions, less severe strains, etc, we'll learn to deal with this much like the common cold and flu.

certainly a bad beat. North texas blew a couple opportunities for sure in second half.  Should have been a slam dunk at the half even for the regular over let alone tease it down.   And then miami ohio scored first posession to start second half.  Crazy

Yesterday out of the blue I just vomited, which never happens to me.   I think it may have been food poisoning because as soon as I vomited, I felt fine with no other symptoms.   I'm going to take a home covid test in a little bit and until then am isolating.   I'm going to hope it's not Covid and hope it was just Monte's posts that made me sick if not the food.

Yep. Some missed FGs also. Then, when Miami scored that last TD and went up 12, which I never in a million years thought would be the last score,  I was hoping they'd go for 2 to put  them up by 2 TDs. Just not meant to be.
