I didn't insult austour by calling him lil monkey, it's in his avitar right?

I took no offense.  I knew you weren't witty enough to be taking a jab.  ;)

Although I will say other folks have tried to leverage it maliciously, as if I would GAF.  I do miss my old avatar of "The Brain", friend of Pinky.  Maybe I'll bring it back.

PS How may of you have googled Tod Lubitch?

I did.

I'm very lucky. Being a geezer I had my first shot y'day from the VA: Moderna vaccine.
I hope you guys can get vaccine shots ASAP.
Meanwhile be safe!

P.S. Pete, my cousin, ~71, came down with Covid around Thanksgiving and has been in ICU since. Doctors wrote him off about 2 weeks ago, but he's rebounded and is on his way to a Rehab Facility. Nothing short of a mircacle in my view.

Take care guys.

I didn't remove it but you have to watch what you say to people. A post like that could have blown the entire site up. Heed this unofficial warning.

OhioFan, i will always defend myself, and I will again.
only reason I said that is because it was in his avatar, it wasn't a viscous attack or whatever you think it was.
So trust me when I say this,, i have no regrets saying what I said.

edit
I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong, but if calling someone by their avatar picture is such a bad offense then I don't know what to say.

Just in case, here's an additional reminder/warning:

(1) if you see something offensive, report it. Do not reply in kind. "He started it" or "Another poster has gotten away with worse" are not viable defenses for poor behavior.

Glad u got your first shot.  Also hope your cousin is ok and if you have any rehab questions let me know.

Ok so just an update on side effects of second shot.  For me was just some arm soreness. Not sure if I had a little chills the other night or if it was my house was a little cold. My daughter also said she was a little cold at the time.

But I did have a few coworkers with some low grade fever and mild body aches also.

I had second shot as well.  Was run down a bit.  Lots of colleagues had more significant symptoms after the second shot though.  A few had to go home with chills and even fever but nothing major.  Second shot though definitely caused much more discomfort for most but again, that is expected.

Not an expert.
And didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn.

But can't help but wonder if getting the 2nd shot so soon after the first one might be ambitious.  But then again I also think we should be getting as many people the 1st shot as possible right now.

This technology was studied to get the most efficacious vaccine out there.  95% is phenomenal.  Truth is that there is some solid protection after the first one, but I think maximum efficacy is important to really limits the disease.  Have to practice what was studied to work.

I personally believe that the problem is that the delivery is being made overly complex.  After the first round or so of healthcare workers, frontline, essentials, it should just be done by age bracket to make it easy.  Anybody 70+ and then work your way down.  Instead there are all types of barriers. Most important thing is to get this vaccine out as fast as possible to as many as possible.  In next few months you will see real drops in virus numbers if we can get at least 1/3 of the population vaccinated.

Biden said that's the first thing he'll do.... get all the doses stockpiled out to the states so more first shots can be taken.

Don't know if that's the right call or not since I stayed in a Motel 8 last night.

Marcus literally about an hour ago on one of the morning talk shows they had some really well known healthcare person on ( wasn't Fauci I'm mot sure who it was. Anyway they were asking him about the getting all the vaccines out now and he said the EXACT same thing you recommended yesterday. That the problem is distribution and states baking things more complicated and the answer is choose blanket age brackets like 70 and older first ( after frontline people ). Then you go to 60 and over then 50 and older etc etc. your idea makes a lot of sense. I'd rather not get a shot then wait 8 weeks etc to get the next one. Btw what do you think of what they said in England a week or so ago about mixing and matching the vaccines so you might get Moderna first then Pfizer second ? Personally I think that's idiotic. Not sure if they changed their position on that I haven't paid attention to that last several days

the vaccines have to be given precisely at their studied doses and intervals period.  Anything outside of that is not studied and not labeled use.  Pfizer needs 2 shots with 21 days in between.  Moderna 2 doses 28 days in between.  Talk of mixing and matching vaccines is absurd.

As I said and apparently other medical people agree Mike, as you mentioned, it's being made too complicated.  Get it out to frontline health care and service workers, essential workers, teachers etc.  after that just open up Agee brackets starting at the highest first.  As it stands it's being handled like a fire drill in some states.  People need proof of all kinds of garbage.  Simple age brackets with valid photo ID should be more than sufficient.

My wife just got her first shot of Moderna today (she works in NYC public schools). Was a very easy process for her. Going to try to sign up my old man tomorrow since he is 80.

My dad is 81 and is losing his eyesight. My mom is 76 and losing her memory. Both are STJ grads.

They have 1 email address and 1 cell phone for the 2 of them.

I had to create 2 accounts using 2 different computers along with my wife’s email address and my email address to get an appointment.

They will get their shots on Saturday at Aviation High in Sunnyside.

I feel relieved. But I can’t imagine how many seniors are left in the cold because they don’t have help.

1. For Redmen dotcomers in New Jersey here is the pre-registration site to sign up and get on the list:

covid19.nj.gov

2. Chicago Days, wishing your ~70 yr old cousin, the best, I hope and pray he fights through this thing. Tell his family to be vigilant during his rehab stay, as someone with personal experience here, it is immensely important that they watch everything that goes on at the facility.

3. If anyone catches this thing in a "bad" way, in the first 10 days, see if you can get the experimental cocktail of drugs that greatly reduces the symptons and helps with recovery, even if it isn't covered by insurance.

Really hope the J&J trials go as well as Pfizer/Moderna.
Could really be a game-changer, flooding the market with a one-shot vaccine.

It will be interesting.  Since it is not an M-RNA vaccine, it may or may not offer the same level of protection.
