UConn Still Shopping ?

They left us so I am not sure why we should take them back, like Syracuse this is another program that was disrespectful and claimed to be the real NY team. They screwed themselves. The way I see it SJU needs to do all it takes to have the monopoly on the Garden, we can pack the Garden on our own if we keep improving at this pace and choose to play these out of conference teams if it makes sense for us.

If coaches, ADs, Big East Commissioner & Fox want this, it will obviously happen. Can they park football somewhere is main impediment obviously if rumors true. Should be an interesting next three or four months.

Actually we left them. Just sayin. (New BE teams broke away from football schools and negotiated with remaining schools to keep the name).

If Conn is welcomed back into the Big East there is one thing guaranteed to happen. Because of the huge financial rewards the football conferences receive ,five minutes after joining the Big East Conn will behind closed doors continue to try to gain admission to one of the football conferences no matter what legal amount of penalty they have to pay to leave the Big East.

The only way to immunize the teams in the BIG EAST from the catclysmic shifts that take place when FOOTBALL schools shift from one conference to another often leaving ruins behind them, is to stay away from those FOOTBALL SCHOOLS, completely. Before the new BIG EAST was created the futures of our BE teams were bleak. Let's not forget that.

I don't know which side I come down on re Uconn being admitted to our conference but we are 10 hoop strong members so even if they were allowed in and left it would be nothing like what happened before, we could easily adapt and if there is a huge exit fee all the schools make money and we all know we can use the money. What I'm saying is decision should be made based on other factors, being a football school is no threat to the health of the BE.

Correct. The seven BE non-FBS schools decided to split from the FBS schools which included returning BE members UConn, Cincy and USF. So we left them.

Now, there is no doubt in my mind if a bigger football conference had offered any of the three of them while we were all still part of the BE, they would have left us just like Pitt, Cuse, WVa, Ru, Va Tech, Louisville and, Miami and BC before them.

Recall that in 2011 Villanova made a presentation to the Big East Football schools proposing to move its FCS football program to FBS which proposal was tabled.

Had the Big East Football schools accepted Villanova in 2011 and Villanova spent the money necessary to move its football program to D1 before the 2013 Big East divorce then the Big East Conference look different today. The "basketball only" schools would likely not have had enough members to continue without UConn, USF, Cincy, and Villanova and the mixed membership would have continued, or if the basketball only schools did separate then Villanova may have ended up in the American Athletic Conference.

I've always wanted Uconn back in, as long as we make it nearly impossible for them to ever leave again. I know many on this board are strongly against this, but just my opinion on the matter.

I'm against Yukon's return. We don't need to give them more NYC exposure to help them recruit.

must be a done deal since Yukon is officially stating that the rumor is not true.

Didn't know Kellyanne Conway also worked for UConn. :)

Watching Cincy blow our UConn at home. It just shows how much UConn needs the Big East.

I'm in agreement with fellow Johnny fans who don't want to see UConn back in the league that brought them access to the recruits that led to their historic success.

The reason they are coming back is that Fox and the schools see that the money pot only grows if the league keeps growing. Despite the success of the league on the basketball court, this week will likely show how the current make-up of the league is not enough to match the excitement of the past tournaments.

Adding this one team allows us to keep the schedule of playing each school two times while growing the league and adding a program that has a better recent hoops history than anyone including Duke. It is a huge win for the prestige of the league. A no brainer.

The only thing - and we all know what it is - you cant trust these UConn pricks.

Val and Stu Jackson need to convince UConn and their politicians to make a concrete step to de-emphasize football by going down a notch to where Nova resides. Besides, it is the right move for the state of Connecticut anyway.

They will never cut it in big time college football. Many other Universities and Colleges will realize it in the coming years as the financial losses and bad publicity of contributing to dementia rates pile up.

Screw yukon.

Yukon has a regular season of 14 & 16 and 8 & 8 in the irrelevant American Athletic Conference.

Yukon's men's basketball is seemingly becoming less relevant each year it is in the American.

Yukon has no geographic rival in the American Conference to keep the fans interested (see Yukon vs. Tulsa = yawn.).

I fully support admitting Yukon into the Big East as a full member PROVIDED it agrees to a backbreaking exit fee, AND an assignment of its media rights for a 20 year period which is similar to the assignment which the ACC required of its members.

If Yukon does not agree to the strict terms then IMO it can wither in the irrelevant American Athletic Conference as its fans foolishly dream of invites to the AAC and the Big Ten.
