Transfers

russell robinson transferring to us :)

Literally the only hope I had during the dark ages. He later threw salt in my wounds but saying something to the effect of "You have no idea how close I came to transferring back home."

This should be a big transfer year. Lavin needs to get more creative with his recruitment of JUCOs and 5th year transfers.

@EvanDaniels: Mike Thorne, who is transferring from Charlotte, is expected to get a release this week, a source tells Scout. 27 schools have reached out.

6'11 270, with over 10 and 7 per game in C-USA. Immediately eligible. Impressive physical specimen.

Not getting ANY high quality transfers in this day and age, especially with 5th year eligibility, is a serious deficiency of Lavin's.

He gets a F IN THIS CLASS.

Couldn't agree more with the first part, but Sampson alone gets him at least a C for this class (which is not over).

Other than Branch Lavin has not played the transfer game well.

@JonRothstein: Fordham's Eric Paschall will transfer, per the school. Three years of eligibility remaining. Long line for this one.

@JonRothstein: BREAKING --- Syracuse transfer B.J. Johnson has committed to LaSalle, source told @CBSSports. Two years of eligibility left. Story coming.

Neither has anyone since Coach C. if we are talking strictly about transfer's from four year schools. Last four year school transfer of impact has been Branch (Lavin), Middleton (Mahoney), Brust and Rowan (Carnesseca).

We've done well with some Juco's like Hardy, Brownlee and Hatten.

So much for the St. John's rumors.

But I guess it's easier to claim need for waiver if you actually transfer back home.

His father is LaSalle alum.

Thanks, did not know that.

Reggie Carter and Bernard Rencher were the two most impactful I can remember.

I cut my list off with Rowan's transfer from ND prior to the 83/84 season (he sat out that season and became eligible in 84/85. Brust transferred in mid-season after being at UNC for half a season. St. John's did not have any available ships so he registered as a part time student receiving a ship the next year which he also sat out. That gave him a full three years of eligibility.) But you are right about the two of them being transfers who had impacts. Jut that they transferred in 77/78(?), Carter from Hawaii and Rencher from ND.

Someone has to help out on this . Looie brought in from Kan. St. a player first name Curtis, who was a big time NYCHS ball player. Went with his coach to Kan. St. who left very quickly.
He scored in the high teens for K St but had a bad leg injury and lost his explosiveness before SJU. I think the name was something like Redfield and I think it was the late seventies.

Curtis Redding.

Rest assured if the InterWebs was around back in the day, there would be multiple threads with hundreds of posts devoted to him.
