Transfers

Put me down for Anthony Collins. He would be a great match for sheed.

@JonRothstein: BREAKING --- Syracuse transfer B.J. Johnson has committed to LaSalle, source told @CBSSports. Two years of eligibility left. Story coming.[/quote

So much for the St. John's rumors.

But I guess it's easier to claim need for waiver if you actually transfer back home.

His father is LaSalle alum.
There's always something. Some players Aunt Tillie had a neighbor whose husband's cousins friends father went there. Kid didn't go there originally did he.

Someone has to help out on this . Looie brought in from Kan. St. a player first name Curtis, who was a big time NYCHS ball player. Went with his coach to Kan. St. who left very quickly.
He scored in the high teens for K St but had a bad leg injury and lost his explosiveness before SJU. I think the name was something like Redfield and I think it was the late seventies.

Curtis Redding...came to SJ with great rep and did nothing...

I recall during one game at Alumni Hall..Carnesecca took him out of the game...he was so ticked, he actually stood and cheered for the other team...

Curtis sat next to me in philosophy class. Well he did on the rare occasion that he showed up.

Have a good feeling we get Eric Pashall to transfer in and Curtis Redding gets another year of eligibility.

Jeff Allen(Rutgers), John Hempel(UMASS?) and Mike Moses(Florida)

How about Lamont Middleton. He transferred from Hartford I believe.

He was mentioned and you are correct, he did come from Hartford.

Kevin Loughery, Ken McIntyre

And another guard: Boo Harvey.

And he came with Michael Porter, correct?
And of course Walter the Truth Berry was a JC or from somewhere out there in pre-four year college land. I remember an SI article "there's a berry in the bush" and I believe Walter was considering Georgia.

Berry, Harvey and Porter came from San Jacinto JUCO -- which was the top JUCO in the country at the time.

Billy Goodwin also came from San Jacinto. Harvey and Porter was the starting backcourt for two years there but they never played with Walter who was gone by then.

Since we are now talking Juco's, you have to include "the Whopper" Billy Paultz.

Okay, Moose, your probably right. :)

Actually, Harvey and Porter were only for one season together. They both got suspended at the end of the 1988 season. Boo came back in 1990 but Porter was long gone. If I remember, in the spring of 1988 he went to Bermuda during finals week.

Can anybody give me a detailed scouting report on 1988 transfer Darrell Aiken to further derail the thread?

Be careful, Lavin may read this and mistakenly head to San Quinten to recruit thinking it is San Jacinto.

"There" meaning San Jacinto not "here" meaning St. John's. I was speaking about their time as Juco's as it was mentioned that Berry, Harvey and Porter all came from San Jacinto.

Harvey wasn't suspended, he was declared academically ineligible as his GPA was not high enough to participate. He sat out the next season, raised his GPA and came back as you mentioned the season after that.

Porter was dismissed because he didn't completed the semester as you mentioned he went to Bermuda (I though it was the Bahamas but you could be right) instead of taking his finals which I guess he knew he wasn't going to pass anyway.
