Transfers

Eli Carter, Florida (eligible immediately) -- Carter spent two seasons with the Gators after transferring from Rutgers following his sophomore season. He averaged 8.8 points this past season, but has dealt with multiple injuries over the last few years, including a broken leg and a sprained foot.

Considering: St. John's, Clemson, NC State, Boston College, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Nevada, Rutgers, Long Beach State, Creighton, Iona, DePaul

Josh Cunningham, Bradley -- A former top 100 recruit, he can rebound, defend and plays hard. The 6-7 Illinois native averaged 7.9 points and 7.5 boards as a freshman for the Braves this past season.

Considering: Arizona, DePaul, Michigan State, Notre Dame, St. John’s, Minnesota, Purdue, South Carolina, UIC, Dayton, Colorado State

Cunningham is not a target
And Eli is pretty close to not being one either.

Didn't know where else to put this after the Sampson thread was locked.

Looking over the LSU roster (trying to find an underdog for 2016 championship), and they return two rising junior SGs that played over 34 mpg last year (Hornsby and Quarterman). They also bring in Blakeny (#13 projected NBA pick), have a top 100 caliber rising soph PG that played 27 mpg last year, and a rising redshirt-junior guard that played 20 mpg. Of course, they also signed a projected top 3 NBA pick in SF/PF Simmons.

For a kid that said he wanted to play early, it doesn't look like that's in the card for at two years barring an injury or Quarterman jumping to the NBA early (projected 2016 2nd rounder). And it's not like Blakeny is a guarantee to go after just a year as a 6'3 combo guard. Puzzling.

I assume It's little Marillac.

Thank you :) It is from about six months ago when he first wore his Mullin jersey.

Nice reference. It reminded me when my now 18 year old college freshman was an infant, the first song I taught him was what the SJU band has played for generations.. You know, no words, all trumpets, and then "Go St. John's". I'd imitate the trumpets and trombones, and he was so little with almost no vocabulary, and at first all he could say was "St. John."

Each of my kids went somewhere else, but all love SJU basketball. Start them young.

Thanks for the memory. :)

I was pushing him on the swing last month and he yelled "Go St. John's!" out of nowhere. It was a pretty awesome moment from a kid under 2 1/2. I taught him the cheer before the SDSU game. I couldn't believe he remembered it.

Enjoy every moment. You will blink and you'll be dropping him off at college holding back some tears and wondering how the hell 18 years went by so fast. :)

@JonRothstein: UT-Arlington transfer Johnny Hill has committed to Purdue, sources told @CBSSports. Immediately eligible. Story coming.

Over Illini

anyone hear any word on where any of our transfers are looking at? Very curious to see if a major player will take a look at Adonis or if he is destined for a program like Fordham or Hofstra.

I predict Adonis never plays anywhere.

I predict Adonis never plays anywhere.

He would be lucky to end up at somewhere like Fordham or Hofstra even

Does this mean LoVett is leaning toward Illinois, or were they after Hill because LoVett is leaning away from them / without a doubt ineligible?

Could be wrong, but I still believe he won't be eligible.

Sadly you may be right. IMO Adonis should spend a year or 2 at a JC while he works on his conditioning, then revisit the D1 options.

Agree. Maybe down the road, but based on what we've seen this past season, he is nowhere near ready to contribute even at the mid-low D1 level. Not to mention the fact that we have no idea what his academic status is. Wonder why JDR was not listed amongst the transfers? Guess his eligibility is up.

Boy do I know that feeling, twice. One more to go but I have a few years left before then. But from past experience, it goes fast.

JDR has to petition (it he hasn't already) the NCAA to get a year back. Since this is different than a guy having a year of eligibility left when he graduates, there might be a time frame where he has to wait until the end of the semester. It is also possible he will finish his academic requirements and has decided not to pursue another year.

I'm not sure if this has been posted, but 6'4 Soph PG, Terrance Samuel, is transferring from UConn. He'd be a strong backup PG for someone. He played 9 mpg for UConn's national championship team two years ago.
