Transfers & Recruits Visiting SJU

Per Rothstein

Arkansas State transfer Anthony Livingston will visit St. John's on 4/28, source told @CBSSports. Immediately eligible. #sjubb

4/28-4/30 official visit.

Heard today that UNLV's Ben Carter may be the latest player looking to exit the program. He is a versatile 6-8 post player, who is coachable, a good team player, with no academic or behavioral issues. He came out of Bishop Gorman, and was a big-time recruit. Chose Oregon over UNLV, and played there for two years. Transferred for more playing time. He sat out last year, and was a solid contributor this year before being injured. He would be a fifth-year senior, eligible to play next year, and would not affect the 2017 recruiting. No schools mentioned, as yet.

Is anybody left at UNLV?

Obepka, unless he hires an agent. :)

Sensing, despite big recruiting weekend, a couple of visitors. We'll see.

Going to be a great weekend :) :) :)
recruiting or weather ? because the forecast says I could be eating my 1st lobster roll of the season on sunday

Both :). Btw you are aware that your lobster roll fetish can also be enjoyed indoors as well right? Although I'm sure not as fun.

Love that shirt !!! but would need to substitute alcohol for drugs

Lobster rolls to me though are like NFL Football. It's something best enjoyed outdoors :)

And Maher takes another thread completely off the rails...

dude go back and look at each thread on this site the last 6 months and see how many I actually took off topic that weren't already off topic.

I didn't even post on the Lavin rehash thread that's been going on for days

Dude. Chill. Just messing with you.

Landing Simon, Clark Jr. And Livingston would be an absolute coup, considering the freshmen and sophs we have in the program. It would effectively layer recruiting classes and spread ships for one. It would also add size at guard and an additional big body at the wing with Clark.

I don't know much about Lvivingston, but he seems like an effective interior player. He has one outburst on file, but I'm not sure we know enough about that to make real judgement. Gotta trust the staff with that one. The two transfers seem legit though. Despite what many have said about Clark, MSU fans really liked him as a player and I'm not sure he got enough time to show what he has. He was also injured to start the season this year for a few weeks.

How ironic. This time it's his teammates who have left him in the lurch, not vice-versa.

I wish Livingston was here this weekend. Signing him first would allow us to take a chance on Antetokounmpo.

Livingston seems like a WVa. type player, so won't be shocked if he heads there.

Does the staff think Mussini is two-and-home? H.S. ranking aside, Simon seems like a weird target to me.

I was hinking the same thing. W his size he will not make the NBA. Might as well make money in Italy.

Do you see Mussini as a starter or even a 6th man on a tournament caliber team?

I think the staff is preparing to be as competitive as possible two years from now. I'll take a former top 50 recruit, who played a year at Arizona, and will have a year practicing with St John's under his belt, over a good 2017 guard.

As for Mussini, there's plenty of room for another guard like Simon in 2017-18 season. Ellison can get minutes at the 3 backing up Ahmed, he'll also get some 2G minutes. Meanwhile LoVett and Ponds will probably start, with Simon and Mussini getting minutes as well.

Pro contract is always an option but I remember Mussini being a good student. Maybe he will be happy just getting his degree and playing a smaller role down the line.
