Transfers & Recruits Visiting SJU

I think Mussini will be great for us coming off the bench down the stretch. We not only have several more talented guards, but the kid can shoot despite rough patches. People will be very happy to have him with his ability to play both guard spots off the bench, hit long threes and excellent Ft shooter.

Some of our defensive deficiencies were team-defense related. Mussini will never be a great defender, but I don think he will be playing nearly as much as this past season.

I agree, Marcus
Mussini is a very good stand still 3 point shooter
He is not as good when he shoots off the dribble or has to create his own shot
Playing the off guard spot, he will be able to spot up, which will make him more effective

I think Mussini will improve in his second season. Staff also needs to teach how to set picks and how to use them. Less dribbling and more passing. Ball movement is key.

honestly i said that all year. I didn't think the team used Moose to his abilities. Yes he is slower but i didn't see many plays drawn up for . Feeding off high picks or double picks. The kid can shoot and is a good teammate. He is not a head case like we had in the past. Obviously with 2 more pure ball handlers coming in, the pressure will be off him, but he still needs to feed off of picks.

I remember a couple of games at the beginning of the season where we used a double high post that provided FM with good screens from which to shoot. Don't know why we did not use that occasionally.

Wow we spend a lot of time discussing our 4th guard next year

I think that's a pretty good sign... A sign that we added an entire string to our backcourt. Mussini is a capable player and had to undertake a lot this year. He's pretty savy with the ball and can shoot. I think he will be an important 4 year player for us. Our frontcourt options are much better now as well, which will take pressure off the backcourt.
