Transfers & Recruits Visiting SJU

Matt A tweet: "I'm confident in where things are headed but one thing I am certain - this city NEEDS & WANTS St. John's back on the map and it will get there"

I just love the determination and enthusiasm exhibited by our staff
They will get it done!!

Im baffled why CJ would transfer. He must have seen how much he improved last year. Why wouldn't he want to come back one more year to continue to improve. I don't see how transferring to a lower level competition can help. To me he seems like the perfect fit to help balance the class. He has one year eligibility

At least with the current roster for next year I would expect him to get plenty of run. It seems like it was more his decision. Hope him the best.

Mutual decision based on staff's vision of his role v his.

Hi my Main Man!
In addition to merely clicking on the "thank you" button I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the video that you brought to my attention! Good for this young man and how he has endured.
the best

Ditto, I don't watch many of the video montages beyond the 1st few seconds. This was very compelling and really puts our basketball-centric critiques of these young men in perspective.

I like the per minute stats, but I really know nothing about him. Anyone have any firsthand Morgan experiences?

UNLV has been a program in disarray for four years, so it is hard to really hard to evaluate players. Two guys declared for the NBA last year, four so far this year. Morgan, like most of the UNLV recruits, was highly ranked, but didn't show much in his two years. Most of his playing time came after other players were injured, suspended or expelled. He is a 6-8 combo forward, who hasn't been a problem, and, in his defense, hasn't had a very talented or stable coaching situation. I'm not sure if he could contribute in the Big East. The Mountain West was very weak the last two years.

I agree with Andrew 2 the Video was moving and was interesting as well. I don't know where Mr. Clark will wind up but he seems like a real hard worker and a good person who can overcome adversity. To me he seems like he would be an excellent addition to our program. I am posting an article below on his life and the complexities of his recruitment out of high school . I found it to be both informative and a good read .

Apparently top three targets thus far in no order; Clark, Simon & Kostas A. We'll see.

Would be more than happy if we get all 3, happy with 2 of 3.

Thanks for the post, this is indeed very compelling. I am recently retired from a not for profit organization in Manhattan which provides permanent housing to homeless people. Unfortunately the need is so great and the resources are so limited that it sometimes becomes frustrating. Seeing a success story like this on is encouraging.

IMHO opinion, the real hero Is the Mom who kept giving her kids the consistent message they needed to hear. This really goes to the type of person which these young men surround themselves. He seems well grounded and I'm certain that however his basketball career goes after college, he will enter that part of his life with a college degree (unlike so many others ).

I see that Williams is a senior next year, but did he redshirt his last year at ISU? Because if he did, and we give we give the 3 open ships to them, and if no one transfers then we'll have no ships for 17, am I correct with that?
If that's the case then why do that? I'd like atleast 1 kid from 17.

I listed top three as I read it. I assume Morgan is still in the mix.

1. Williams never played at ISU.
2. At the minimum, he has 2 years of eligibility left.

Would be unlikely for any school to return 13 players as end of benchers usually transfer or others leave early. Didn't someone leave to open

Would be unlikely for any school to at a high major to return 13 players as end of benchers usually transfer, or someone leaves early. Didn't someone leave to open a schollie for RySheed Jordan a few years ago (not sure)?
