I won't miss Syracuse or their 15,000 obnoxious fans who fill the Garden and humiliate us when we play them. The school may make less money but who cares?

I just hope we don't let the same thing happen when Memphis comes to town. St. John's fans really need to step up and support the team. We complained so much anout the inadequacies of the previous staff. The Administration went out and got a better staff than any of us could have hoped for. Now we complain because we did't make the Final Four with the first true recruiting class that Lavin brought in.

Don't laugh too much. I get the feeling this will be a wakeup call for them that brings them to another National title.

Meanwhile, we are yet again looking forward to next year to another unknown season of "ifs" as our hated rivals dance to the Final Four.

You sure you are really laughing and not crying?

They'll be gone in the "Sweet 16." I've been saying it for weeks now.

I wouldn't be too woried about the Memphis fan base. I think the SJU fans would have turned out if the heralded recruiting class stayed intact. This is now a jaded group that is quick to react to bad news like a six man team after our NCAA season. If we ever put a few good seasons together season people will be scrambling to hold on to good seats but we're a long way from that. I don't think it's fair to say there was complaining that we didn't make the final four. Playing with half a team though was embarassing for a BE program. There are so many kids who would kill to play BE ball it's hard to understand. I normally never miss a game but it was a struggle this year getting there even with the kids overachieving the way they did. You just knew how far they could go from the beginning. Hell, even Stith got tired of beating his head against the wall. Now with the possible loss of a player or two there isn't much to hang your hat on until Lavin delivers as promised. These are the doldrums and all we can do is wait.

Well so far we now hear that Sampson is going to be here next year so that is one down.

On another note South Florida walloped Cal tonight showing the nation a bit of Big East defense. I have to give Haith credit USF has looked a lot better than I thought. All the "experts" had Cal advancing.

That's Heath, not Haith ... though Haith's done a great job as well at Missouri, which is my choice (and Lavin's as well) to win it all.

Slips -- Freudian or otherwise -- are forgiven for someone whose avatar is Rudy Wright. (Dog, it is Rudy, yes?)

Redken, yes it is the likable Rudy Wright whom I had the pleasure of talking with along with Gordon Thomas after the Iona (Ruland led) loss in the ECAC playoffs. That team came close to playing Magic Johnson in the final four.
Certainly the bad call against Reggie Carter, fouling him out, and the multiple misses at the buzzer hurt.

Loss of a player or two? Who is the second one? Only one I know that is even thinking about declaring is Moe.

Speaking of the BE- S Fla absolutley embarrassed Cal in the 1st half last night, I thought Norm was coaching Cal

If Boeheim isn't gone with them then there's something seriously wrong with the NCAA, How could this guy ever survive a child molestation scandal, a drug testing scandal and an academics scandal?

I remember Al McGuire saying that whenever St. John's was featured on CBS Rudy Wright always seemed to have a big game and put up numbers that were much, much better than his per-game averages. Used to joke that the kid must love being in the spotlight of national TV. (And it was true: Rudy did have some big games on CBS.)

West Va. just got pounded in their BE goodbye. Good. I felt bad about losing Cuse but they turning out to be filthy dirty. Pitt. had a stinker year, and not feeling bad about that either. In a couple years BE gonna be a whole lot better football league, and hoping all the hoop teams are dedicated to excellence, maybe we can still be better then the ACC.

We will be better. It's not a "maybe" IMO....

Heard this morning that the Secretary of Education called out Boeheim been searching for the story. Anyone catch this story?

Watching Uconn vs Iowa state and a few observations.

1). Royce White... How good is this kid? "pure PG"??? This guy is 6'8" 275lbs and plays PG most of the time. Ridiculous. Kid is good.

2). Andre Drummond: extremely talented...extremely soft. He has much more athleticism than Royce White at about the same size, but doesn't have the cojones. Not interested in the game in nearly the same way.

3) Jeremy Lamb: Nice player but waaaaay overrated after his freshman performance. Stats are good, but not a guy that takes over games. I'd take D'Lo or Harkless any day.

Ha I think you are drinking a bit too much of the Kool-Aid MCNPA. Lamb was the second best player on a national championship team as a freshman and is a first team all Big East type player right now. He'll be sure lottery pick from what I've read, and I highly doubt that Mo gets selected before him. And as much as I love D-Lo, I don't think it is fair to compare him to a guy like Lamb at this point.

Don't get me wrong -- I love our guys, and thought they performed unbelievably as freshman on a short-handed team. But Lamb is the real thing I think.

Don't mean to gloat, but UConn are done. :p

Could be really done ... Lamb opts for the draft, so does Drummond (who looked awful but has NBA size), no post-season play next year, Calhoun retires (something he hasn't denied thinking about) ... could be the end of an era.
