Transfer Thread

apparently the basketball karma gods had no problem with that december brawl with Cincy and Xavier in sweet 16

Nice win by Cincy, but USF showed their inexperience down the stretch and could not hit a three. Defense in BB
is not the difference maker. Ohio hit big threes all game.

Sweet 16
Big East with 4 teams
Big Ten with 4 teams
ACC with 2 teams

Watching USF I got the feeling I was looking at the tight ends from an NFL mini-camp horsing around with a basketball during a break, strong bodies with zero BB IQ.

A good finish to the NC State/G'town game. Bye-bye, Hoyas! :ngrin:

Terrible shot by Porter that cost them the game. You can not shoot off balance like that, Sims was rightfully pissed.

Unless the play that resulted was not what was called in the time out, hard to understand why Porter was on the side with Sims and not Thompson (the player.)

Also 4 teams from the state or Ohio.

“@GoodmanCBS: Rutgers losing Gil Biruta to transfer. That's a tough loss for Mike Rice & Co.”

The way Mike Rice coaches, I'm not surpised. Not the kind of guy I would want to play for. Biruta wasn't a bad player.

as per Zags.

Looks like Biruta might go to U.R,I. to play for his former h.s. coach, Dan Hurley
Oriakhi says he's leaving because UConn is banned from the NCAA tourney for his senior (next) year
The start of who could be an interesting off season

They should both go to Rhode Island, but Oriakhi is interesting because he's proven he can get it done at the highest level. Schools that are a big man away from making a large amount of noise next year will be lining up for him. I'm too lazy right now to examine who that might be, though.

Too bad we can't be lining up for him.

That is a HUGE loss for Rutgers. I think Biruta has the tools to be one of the better big guys in the Big East the next two years.

I believe he can transfer inter- conference but would be required to sit out 2 years rather than the NCAA required 1 year.

fyi interconference means between conferences, intraconference means within the same conference.

as a parent would not send my kid to play for him if there options to go elsewhere...he may be a good coach but he is manic

Biruta a big loss is right. He's their best big guy.

Absolutely, and it also sends a message to potential recruits when they see a kid who kept on improving but wanted out of a winning situation. Too many people have been saying and posting that Rice appears crazy on the sidelines.
I think Lavin is a great player's coach and am very confident that barring any further health issues he can and will continue to consistently bring in good talent to SJU. If you bring in good talent you will produce winning results and success breads further success.
