Transfer Thread

That's truly Steve MCN.

I can imagine Steve in a recruit's dining room sitting with his mom and dad.

You can feel the karma that Steve brings into a room.'

If I were an opposing coach and I heard that Steve was at a coveted recruit's home, I would say to myself-----that's the ball game !"

We really are a lucky group of fans, but we earned it !

Plenty of blood, sweat and tears !

Thank you Mr. Jarvis !

I believe he can transfer inter- conference but would be required to sit out 2 years rather than the NCAA required 1 year.

Cannot transfer "INTRA-conference" period.

BIG EAST Intra-Conference Transfer Policy
• Student-athletes in the sports of football and men’s and women’s basketball are not permitted to transfer, directly or indirectly, from one BIG EAST institution to another BIG EAST institution and participate in athletics. There are no exceptions or waivers to this rule.

Furthermore as I stated players who sign valid NLI's are not allowed, even if they are given a release, to go to another BE school:

Special Notes

1. A student-athlete who signs a valid National Letter of Intent with a BIG EAST institution is subject to the above-mentioned transfer policy for the sport in which they signed the NLI.

2. A student-athlete who signs a valid National Letter of Intent with a BIG EAST institution, and is subsequently granted a complete release to said NLI or is granted a release by the NLI Steering Committee, is subject to the above-mentioned transfer policy for the sport in which they signed the NLI.

When you speak to Steve Lavin you get the impression that all of his powers of concentration are focused on you and what you have to say.

It is the hallmark of an accomplished conversationalist.

Let this be a lesson to every petulant little child on this board. Crap happens to every program.

From Lavin's health, to ineligible recruits, to Lindsay's transfer, to Malik's quitting made this an undoubtly tough year.

But the program made it through, and is getting its equilibrium back, even with its best player going pro.

Heck, some here were starting to look at Mike Rice with love in thier eyes. Well guess what? Look into Rice's eyes at you own peril. Your face may fall off if you look directly into the eyes of Rice. His big man is leaving, and he faces a tough year as well. He had a losing season as well, without the uneasiness the SJU kids dealt with.

A kudos goes to our assistants and the character of the kids who despite being shrthanded, never quit and competed hard. Now the recruits coming in are exceptional, and we will be very good next year with the kids coming back as the foundation.

It's easy to smile when things are going smoothly. But a true test of character is how to handle difficulties. It is not a crime to fall. The crime is not getting back up. And SJU picked itself up, dusted itself off, and is now ready to explode. After this season, I have never been more confident in the upward direction of this program.

The upper crust of the college basketball world will very soon need to make a seat at their excusive table for that little Catholic school in Queens.

That is a HUGE loss for Rutgers. I think Biruta has the tools to be one of the better big guys in the Big East the next two years.

Biruta a big loss is right. He's their best big guy.

This year maybe, but he was bound to be passed the next two years by better talent. I never saw him as any more than sixth or seventh man.

2 more Big Ten teams go down to the Big Bad East.
Louisville's defense is stifling and Siva makes it seem like man and ball is one.
Pitino now 10 and 0 in sweet sixteen games. That is some record.

And let's go Marquette!!.....They are my choice to win the whole thing.....a fellow non-football Big East school.....

These rules are draconian.

Someone on CasualHoya is stating, per Otto Porter's friends, he's contemplating entering the draft. It could be fodder or there could be something to it.

I think if you transfer within the Big East you need to sit out two years....so I doubt he would come to SJU

I am moving this out of the recruiting forum because no chance we are recruiting within the conference. This is more general conversation.

The Rutgers center has transferred to Rhode Island to play for his high school coach, Dan Hurley. Excuse me if this is old news and has already been posted; don't remember seeing it.

I have not seen any Rice - Lavin comparisons lately?

I think Rice is excellent.
