Transfer Portal

The Grady Reynolds accuser was a liar and that was proven. She had some serious mental issues and I’ll leave it at that. It’s also wildly unfair to blame Jarvis for what happened after he was let go and players had inadequate supervision. Every single program deals with that stuff and Louie even had a detective or FBI (can’t remember) keep tabs on players at the hotel.

Coach Hurley had Ingram for four years. Jarvis had him for 1. Ingram is a solid guy btw…works for NJ Transit now.

Maybe the Mods want to split this thread at this point. I strongly believe we would have 10+ tournament appearances if Jarvis wasn’t fired. I also don’t think there was a single coach in the country that could have led that group further than one shot from the Final Four.
FWIW if what happened under Jarvis happened now no one would barely bat an eye aside from Reynolds.

Yeah with guys like that "nasty" juco Grady Reynolds, who lived up to his potential by assaulting a young lady on the swim team and a few others, including the mac aa, who obviously learned a lot in their economics class when they didn't pay a hooker in their room in Pitt. Lived up to his promise to "recruit players with character and not characters".

Elijah also put his film making class to great use to save many butts or Pitt would have been worse.

His innumerable successes after leaving STJ bear out your hypothesis.

From Zach, some miscellaneous recruiting notes, Rick & Staff seem very busy, sorry IF:

A few recruiting notes:

- St John's still wants Niagara transfer Noah Thomasson ever after adding Nahiem Alleyne. Slated to visit Apr. 26.
- Assistant Steve Masiello is seeing four-star guard Silas Demary Jr. today.
- Oregon State transfer Glenn Taylor Jr. expected to visit eartly next week. Talented 6-6 wing.
I have a question , if all these Players are Student Athletes , how are they able to travel all over the Country ? Don’t they have Classes to attend ? Just asking

You've heard of Zoom, right? Lol. But, to be serious, yeah that's a great question!

So why was Reynolds kicked out of school?
He like Keita and Ingram were all expelled due to the incident at the Hotel. Hamilton and Jones (RIP) were not expelled but suspended from the team (Jones for a few games, Hamilton for the rest of the season) as they both went to the club, but Jones immediately left and returned to the hotel while Hamilton stayed but neither was present for the incident in the hotel room.

While there was no transfer portal then, Ingram transferred to New Mexico State and had to sit out a year and had a nice career out there. Reynolds and Keita were both seniors so their careers were over.

Tyler Jones later transferred to Weber State but was dismissed from the team for disciplinary reasons, never to play one game. Passed away at age 28 with no cause of death ever published.
Just another footnote to the most embarrassing season in St. John's Basketball history where the decision to terminate the coach before Christmas by a clergyman president ruined the lives of half dozen people.
