Transfer Portal

If that is the starting backcourt we will struggle in the BE!
lol, those two just dropped a combined 29 pts and 9 assists vs UConn in the ncaa tourney, a place we haven’t seen in a long time. Clayton Jr has legit Big East talent. He’s better than any guard we had this past season. Jenkins I don’t think projects as a starter but more as a scorer off the bench ala Wusu, but he can certainly help us and can also shoot.

Unfortunately it is an increasing trend which most times doesn't benefit the player basketball wise or academically.

The grad transfer rule is a farce. Unless the player was an achieving academic student as an undergraduate, the vast majority stop attending classes after their last game and never complete their degree requirements. Of course this also happens with undergraduates who stop attending school to focus on preparing for professional tryouts. We all hear of cases where former star guard
Joe Schmooze returns to his college at age 40 to finish his senior year credits.
Basketball was, and is their life.

However, the vast majority will never make much money playing in Hungary or the Philippines. Getting the extra minutes playing for Southern Mississippi didn't change their true talent grade.

While both Jenkins and Clayton are good players on the mid-major level and received All Conference awards,
I personally don't think they will be much more effective in the Big East. Pitino may be looking for older and more experienced familiar faces but I believe he would recruit over them in the portal in a NY minute if the opportunity arises.

You do realize a grad transfer has to graduate first, right?

I doubt that Pitino sees it that way . Having the 2 of them come in together , conveys some sort of positive message. Both , Clayton and Jenkins played pretty well against UCOnn .
Rick obviously thinks the are BE capable . He’s not inviting them to Campus on Good Friday to thank them for bringing Jelly Beans .

I'm referring to grad transfers.
Those who drop out as seniors don't graduate or transfer. As I said, they stop attending classes to work with trainers.
Here's a little fun fact for you: The NCAA has no tracking system to gauge the academic progress of graduate students. They did think of imposing a penalty on the school's basketball program if the student's graduate scholarship was not honored by reducing roster scholarships but I don't think it got very far since nothing forces a student, grad or otherwise, to stay enrolled.

Agree, both are upgrades, re shooting %, ball handling, consistency, approach to the game, and both can succeed against Big East competition.
We shall see how Rick fills the roster out, but these two guys a re e good additions, imo.

Posh and Storr
I like Clayton btw

still think they are comparable backcourts and sju had much more up front which made a big difference:
Clayton best of 4 for sure
Posh and Storr would be next 2
Again if Jenkins coming in as reserve guard would be fine. If that is starting backcourt, we will struggle in BE unless bringing in stud 3 and 4 man.
Furthermore I like Ledlum but see him as a complimentary piece in BE.
Soriano, Ledlum, Clayton and Jenkins not making NCAA even with Pitino unless he can somehow bring back a 20 year old Walter Berry to play the 4.

What would get me excited is to see a commitment from that 6'11" freshman transfer from Kentucky, but he is being mentioned as most likely to wind up with Gtown or UCONN.
