Unfortunately it is an increasing trend which most times doesn't benefit the player basketball wise or academically.
The grad transfer rule is a farce. Unless the player was an achieving academic student as an undergraduate, the vast majority stop attending classes after their last game and never complete their degree requirements. However, the vast majority will never make much money playing in Hungary or the Philippines. Getting the extra minutes playing for Southern Mississippi didn't change their true talent grade.
While both Jenkins and Clayton are good players on the mid-major level and received All Conference awards,
I personally don't think they will be much more effective in the Big East. Pitino may be looking for older and more experienced familiar faces but I believe he would recruit over them in the portal in a NY minute if the opportunity arises.
