Don't recall the play-by-play, especially UCONN's blowout 2nd half, but thought Clayton and Jenkins played well in that game.
Just scanned box score, Iona's primary frontcourt guys were outboarded 27 - 11.
Sanogo had 28 pts and 13 rebounds---most of that in the 2nd half I recall.
Clayton had 15 pts and 4 assists in the game and Jenkins 14 pts and 5 assists.
But be interesting to see if Rick wants to bring both in?
If you think that’s good enough you’ll love what are starting back court did against UConn did this year!

Jenkins had two pretty mediocre years at Pacific then didn't play at all in the 21-22 season then had played very well in his first year with Pitino and Iona. He's been in college for 4 years so I assume he should be on track to graduate but of course I don't know for sure.

I think Clayton is clearly a major minute Big East caliber player. Not as sure about Jenkins but obviously if anybody would know, its Pitino. I understand the hesitation in having an all Iona backcourt for next season especially since that type of strategy was tried by Matt McMahon at LSU this past season where he brought two of his solid guards from Murray St to LSU and they both flopped pretty hard there.

There are basically 10 scholarships to fill right now and they won't all be 5 star players. I think Jenkins would be a nice piece especially as somebody with familiarity with Pitino's style both on and off the court. Hope if he does come here he wouldn't be relied upon to be a 25ish minute per game guy.

Clayton jr and Jenkins had 29 points combined and 9 Assists vs UCOnn . Seems to me , there should not be any doubt that both could play in the BE ., When have we had guards that put up 29 points in a game with 9 Assists combined . Remember these are Pitino selected Guards , that counts for something .
Absolutely has to do better. Rick selected the entire Iona team and we learned they are good enough to win the MAAC and get knocked out in the first round. He’s not getting 30M to do that at St. John’s.

Clayton Jr. has to be a nice piece of the puzzle. He can’t be our prize pick up if we want the success this board is expecting. Rick taken a step up and his recruiting needs to be at the Louisville level not the Iona level.

Picking up the best players from mid majors is a great idea. Picking up multiple players from a mid major team not named Gonzaga is not going to get it done.

100% agree. Trust the Rick

In the end, give me the backcourt that Rick Pitino thinks he can win with. We were an unorganized mess on offense the last few years.

I like Posh a lot. he played hard and may have been a victim of bad coaching but he had so many unforced turnovers this year and that is not winning basketball no matter what he added on defense.

Posh is a good kid to come off the bench. Probably my most favorite player on the Anderson era besides Soriano and Julian. He will be missed but remember she. It's a bad tram and you're a good player doesn't make you a great player on a good team. I trust Rick will get it done and after the Jarvis fiasco our cupboard was bare. Then mullin didn't have much of a roster either. Issue w mullin is that he was more of a gm then coach.

I agree 100%. Just pointing out the stat accumulation in random games doesn’t necessarily mean anything one way or another.

Not in the same league as Wennington and Allen. Weenington went on to win 4 (?) NBA rings with Jordan and Pippen. Not so good for Baldinand Muti. Of Muto we used to say give me 5 goog minutes.

If Rick says Daniss Jenkins could start for him at Louisville it should be good enough for all of us. You wanted him as coach, yet people continuously try to override him. Guys looking at stats, looking for negatives just for conversation. Guys saying player X cannot play defense when they have no idea what kind of defense they play.

Sit back and relax and leave the driving to Rick.

Maybe Jenkins becomes this team’s Chudney Gray.

Doesn’t have to start. But be a spark and contribute off the bench.

The problem with this year’s team was not a lack of talent----we beat Uconn on the road and played Marquette to a virtual tie, also on the road. Our problem was consistency and bad coaching. So the new coach ought to be able to take the current guys, now a year older, and coach them up. Fill the vacancies with studs as the vacancies occur. You don’t fire 3\4 of the team immediately, IMO. If you’re a great coach, show me. Take the former Rookie if the year\Defensive player of the year (Posh) and a freshman who shot 40% from 3 in the BIG EAST (Storr), and build a team around them.
