Transfer Portal

Kids like Jones and Curbelo have/had very tough decisions to make with the sit out rule looming. Not surprising to me that they are taking a bit longer, feel for both of them as maddening as their play was at times.
Know it's a long shot, but still hoping for a couple of kids to change thier minds. Especially Posh, who didn't completely close the door.

Wahab transferring for the 3rd time. Got a free one and then got a waiver. So he would need a SECOND waiver. Also I think this now officially gives Gtown their 8th transfer matching SJU.

But yet he went back to where he started. Fordham, I like you’re take on players. Do you think he can help us? I’m thinking maybe pairing him with a penetrating, pass first point guard would work well…like let’s say someone like Posh.

Not that I believe it will happen…but I see Tyrese Samuel as a more suitable pairing with Soriano…don’t necessarily think he is a Pitino player so just sayin’
Samuel is good and talented but I don’t know if he has the fire to play for RP. Always struck me as very laid back despite really top notch tools. He was the Hall’s second best player this past year.

A 7 footer with .40% 3 point range and unselfish with the ball. A whole new definition of hi- low ball with Soriano down low.
Wherever he ends up, that team will be nationally ranked with the right coach.
A 'stretch' for us? No pun, lol.
Wonder if he's a Pitino 'guy'?
Think Georgetown and Duke have been mentioned as potential destinations.

True and wish him the best, just thought there'd be some buzz about him, especially with Curbello in the portal.
I'd like him back if Rick thinks it'd work.

My concern would be whether an all-Iona backcourt is good enough to compete in Big East for entire year, or are they only good enough to lead at halftime before losing by 20. Of course, they didn't have Soriano and two presumably talented portal guys.

Can’t bring both in

Don't recall the play-by-play, especially UCONN's blowout 2nd half, but thought Clayton and Jenkins played well in that game.
Just scanned box score, Iona's primary frontcourt guys were outboarded 27 - 11.
Sanogo had 28 pts and 13 rebounds---most of that in the 2nd half I recall.
Clayton had 15 pts and 4 assists in the game and Jenkins 14 pts and 5 assists.
But be interesting to see if Rick wants to bring both in?

Of course generally thinking taking the entire backcourt from a MAAC team and placing it in as the Backcouet for a BE team doesn’t seem like recipe for success. But perhaps they would become a part of a larger backcourt opposed to being the two head liners.

Completely agree that you cant expect to take a starting MAAC backcourt and transplant it to a starting backcourt in a top Big East team. Does not compute imho.

I think Jenkins has good size. Could be a first guard off bench for either spot, which makes me way more comfortable. Of course selling any upperclassman on a bench role, even if it's super-sub role, is tough.

I'm impressed that Soriano stayed on. Lots of guys would have panicked about not having any teammates at all and bailed, so that must have been one hell of a sales pitch by Pitino.

Clayton jr and Jenkins had 29 points combined and 9 Assists vs UCOnn . Seems to me , there should not be any doubt that both could play in the BE ., When have we had guards that put up 29 points in a game with 9 Assists combined . Remember these are Pitino selected Guards , that counts for something .
