Transfer Portal

Does the silence surrounding David Jones foreshadow a return for next year? my thinking is he would have already announced by now if he was leaving. Plus, I believe he would need a waiver if he transfers.

I think Pitino could do wonders for Jones is Jones buys in

This one is a biggie also entering the Draft.

But assuming he comes back to college will probably have a long line of suitors.

Also will need a waiver to play next year, was originally at LSU and then transferred to Tulane.

The article is incorrect it says he spent the last 3 years at Tulane, he started at LSU then went to Tulane.

Slater said he’s not leaving the state so looks to be headed back to LSU

Again it will be interesting, after the NCAA sent tge memo reminding teams of what will be required for a waiver, to see how many are handed out.

Who would have thought that hiring one of the greatest college basketball coaches in history would cause such divisiveness in our fanbase? Then again consider our fanbase. 🤣
I don't see "divisiveness", I see a few posters who are upset at the way Pitino started the process of remaking the roster. Thats fine; in my mind what he did was probably called for. There was a lot of BS going on with this team behind the scenes. We are now in a position to remake this team (that was very unsuccessful) and turn it in to a winner. This is the platform to discuss that. People have differing views, big deal! We all want the same thing.

Really? These are kids after all. Many of them are actual student athletes who chose SJU for a reason that may go beyond basketball and who would value their degree. They're not all so fungible to be cast aside.
UNFORTUNATLY College Basketball is now big business. Kids are making 100's of thousands of $'s in NIL money. Schools are making millions on these games. Leagues are realigning for more TV money. Your take is, again unfortunately, not relevant in todays college basketball world.

I’m with you rock! So sick of their negativity!
99.9% of people happy with Pitino.
Generally though you don’t replace 10 guys unless you are Kentucky or Duke and 10 guys get drafted and you bring 10 HS all Americans. Or you did something horrible and go on probation and everyone leaves.
I think people are amazed and in some cases sad about the gutting of the roster.
In my case I have 100%confidence in Pitino.
But in the meantime I find it amusing we currently have 2 players and possibly 2 others no one wants to have.

Can't post the list - it's on a premium page from another site
But here are the ratings of the St John's targets

Bamba # 9

Timberlake # 12

Ledlum # 28

Clayton # 43

By the way, AJ Storr is # 39 and Posh is # 40
Interesting, very little difference between Posh and Clayton. Except, of course, Clayton now has 2 years' experience in the Pitino system.

Would love to see Posh return with PT minutes and $-Nil-$'s agreeable to both Coach Pitino and Posh.
Doubt that happens, but we shall see.
NIL$ is definitely not the issue here. Guaranteed minutes is too big an ego factor for any kid that was a three year starter.
As is evident with many players in this portal era, it's no longer about school spirit or loyalty but about THEM.
It's mind boggling that there are hundreds of players who have dreams of playing on the big stage.
Most will be very disappointed because every year there are less than 65 that get invited to try out on that stage.
The rest will be like sailors seeing the world in the twenties in places like Turkey, Italy, France, Australia, and Croatia.

The fact Curbello and Jones have to sit out a year may be delaying their decisions. I also believe if Pitino could reel in Jones he has good offensive skills.

I heard this guy has eligibility left

I like this kids game. Stuck behind a hell of a front fourt last few years. Not really a shooter.

Clayton could start at either Florida or St. John's. I can't say the same about Posh because he is a below average jump shooter. Sadly, they could have complemented each other sharing the point guard duties.
