To all those player that left all I saw is goodbye. And no, I don't wish you luck where ever you land. I trust in Pitino and his recruiting. Those that left, your legacy is you sucked as a team, barely beating bottom 200 teams, exception-Conn. Good Riddance. Posh included.
All I can say in response, dad742, is that I hope you’re more forgiving of your children when they don’t succeed because nobody succeeds all of the time. Really really bad take.

There was an assumption on this board going in to last season that with most of our team returning, and with the additions of Curbelo and Jones, that we'd be in good shape and be dancing. A good part of the optimism was a result of the perceived positive impact that the continuity would have. When all was said and done, this was one of the most disjointed SJU teams that I've ever seen, and teams with far less continuity had much better seasons then we did. Blame whoever you want, but at the end of the day the continuity didn't mean squat because the kids did not mesh and play as a team. So now, our very same fan base who criticized those very same kids are shedding tears upon their departure? Obviously if Rick thought he could get any of those kids to buy in to his idea of "team first", and to accept a reduced role, then those kids would still be here. Clearly both Soriano and Traore bought in. As I said before, I hate to see Posh, Wusu and others leave, but as Dink and others have said it was thier decision.
Agree Monte that at least with respect to Posh & Storr it appears they had the opportunity to come back but in a lesser role than they envisioned and chose to enter the portal. Posh is clearly torn and maybe he does a Figgy and changes his mind, which I for one would love to see. Would be nice to see him as an energy guy off the bench on a St. John's tournament team.
Wusu on the other hand appears to have been shown the door for non basketball reasons if Zach's story is accurate.

He is in the portal too?

Word is he has wonderful leadership skills, will sacrifice everything for the good of the team, and will always rise to the occasion.

Many say he was given the nickname “King” even before Lebron.

Perfect fit for Pitino’s system.
The problem Jesus has is refs whistle him for walking on water all the time. He’s a turnover machine

Frankly, I am disappointed in two players who are choosing to leave because they can't handle change - Posh and Storr. Storr because he needed to be coached up to reach his potential and Posh who said he wouldn't run from a challenge. Both could have easily challenged for starting roles but are obviously not up to the "challenge". I wish them luck but it is they who chose to leave.

My take is that players like Posh, Wusu, Stanley and Storr were all starters under Coach Anderson and felt entitled to that same role under Pitino. For the Curbelo and Jones critics please note that they handled their demotions well.
Jones lost his dad in the midst of all the upheaval.

That would have been a coaching challenge even for Pitino as that combination was a big disappointment and part of the poor construction of the team.

I am a fan of the school sports teams whether they be soccer, baseball or basketball. I am a big fan of players that play to their potential and are willing to grow as players and adults. For the most part we are not talking about kids anymore in the teen sense but young MEN.
Players who are 21, 22, 23 are not children. They need to be eager to learn from the best and adjust to change because life will be full of change and challenges.

The first year would be a difficult one for any coach who took this job at a school with a losers culture and mid-major basketball management.

As I said when Pitino was hired:

"
The only player guaranteed to start under Pitino would be Soriano. Storr is hard to replace because of his upside and could be a star under Pitino. He is even keeled and a good team player.
Everyone else, including Posh, would have to show much more than they did this past season.
Posh showed a lot of bad decision-making and took a few steps back. Wusu is a solid 6th man.
Everyone else can be replaced."

But here are the ratings of the St John's targets

Bamba # 9

Timberlake # 12

Ledlum # 28

Clayton # 43

By the way, AJ Storr is # 39 and Posh is # 40
So they are rating Posh and Storr better than Clayton, lol. Fun !

Would love to see Posh return with PT minutes and $-Nil-$'s agreeable to both Coach Pitino and Posh.
Doubt that happens, but we shall see.

Seriously dude!!!! Yes I trust in Rick and yes his recruiting. But these are indeed kids. There were our bad news bears . Sure we didn't win but not to wish them luck? Good riddance ? Cuerbelo and pinzon maybe cause they publicly embarrassed the program. But wusu and posh ? Anyone horrible post . Yes not unhappy they're gone but come on . Worst post of the year !
