I could care less that these players are all leaving! I am happy that Soriano is staying because he is a star in the making and earned everything. I’m interested in players not emotional attachments. Others have too much downside to bring team to elite status. You’ve got the best in Pitino which you all wanted . Now you all doubt the best? Gimme a break. The doubters just like to hear themselves talk, no sense in the criticisms.
What “doubt” did you read in my post that makes you respond that way?

This x1000%. We fantasized about getting a coach like Pitino for a generation now people are complaining that he's doing what he's hired to do? Divorce yourself from these kids. There's a reason he doesn't want them. Move on.

I wish the departed, or soon to be departed well, but I still expect a much improved and harder competing team in the fall than what we had witnessed last season.
a hallmark of CMA teams was that they competed pretty hard and kept us in some improbable games. That said, of course the results were simply disappointing.

Not sure if this got dupe posted, sorry if it did.

About 2 days after RP was hired my buddy/arch rival Hall fan. Said posh and Wusu were going to go transfer to SHU. I assumed he was just trying to rile me up and didn’t think much about it. Hoping the board can put my mind at ease and tell me no one else has heard that in the rumor mill.

Really sorry to see Posh and Wusu go; I wish they could have finished their senior year here. And with Storr and King leaving too, we have no backcourt, except for Curbelo. Maybe CRP will use Curbelo as a high energy 6th man like his freshman year at Illinois.

Really? These are kids after all. Many of them are actual student athletes who chose SJU for a reason that may go beyond basketball and who would value their degree. They're not all so fungible to be cast aside.

I struggle with optimism sometimes. Its been a long couple of decades.

However, my dad, who is becoming an octogenarian this summer, and is more prone to spend our conversations reminiscing about his SJU college days and the Lou/Lapchick era than present teams, is the king of feeling like we will never see glory days again. So, if even he is okay with what is going on, with transferring out/decommiting, because he believes RP is experienced enough to know what he is doing and how he wants to build his team, then I am definitely going to ride out these next few months. I am putting my figurative eggs in Pitino's coaching and recruiting ability. I am loyal to a fault sometimes, so I have to believe the ship will get righted.

I don't see both going as Khadary Richmond is their point guard.

They were not cast aside! They were given opportunities which didn’t coincide with their past roles and they chose NOT to accept! Big difference

That was my hope too, but Richmond was sorta forced into that role because they had no other options and man was SHU miserable especially in end games without him (or anyone who could dribble through pressure). Listen, I’m just happy no one else heard any rumblings about it outside of ‘I guess anything is possible’. 😀

Not saying the rumor is or isn't true, but I believe one of the reasons Richmond left Cuse was because he wanted to play the point. I was surprised, when healthy, how good he was at it as was reflected when he was injured and the Hall had to use someone else there.

I was referring to your statement that you "could care less that these players are all leaving!" That, to me, is rather dismissive of them as representatives for some years of the school and team that we all care for. I guess I'm just an ole softie.
