Transfer Portal

You can’t answer the question ? 66.7% FG and over 40% 3pg%. No one says he’s a star but come on slow down with the dramatic statements
A bit disingenuous, considering that was on 3 FGA per game (.4 3P FGA per game). That’s not nearly enough of a sample size to use percentages to make a point. Stanley’s game was hustle, you can get a way better version of him via the portal.

I know this is a message board and to speculate is what we do but I doubt anyone here knows the real deal as to why Storr or others are or will leave. Most will be polite and say they are doing what they feel is best for them, which they very well may be. I don't expect any of them even if not asked back or disgruntled, to take a "scorched earth" approach to any announcement they make about entering the portal.

As I said about Pinzon and Stanley, I also wish Storr and King good luck wherever they land except if they play us.

I dislike Pitino (I disliked the Mullin hire too) but at the end of the day, even the biggest anti Pitino guy would rather be happy than right. I certainly would rather see us go to the sweet sixteen and people point at me and say, 'Boy look how dumb you were to think Pitino wouldn't get us here'. Trust me there will be little solace in missing the post season next year and coming on to this board and saying 'boy that was a waste of $30M'.

Also players leaving are always going to be a sensitive subject, because we invested in rooting them on for a time. Plus, there's just some guys that are easy to root for, the ones that try hard, look engaged on the bench, don't punch Kolek in the face even if he deserved it. We all understand that there is going to be turnover ever year even in the best of times. It just sometimes feels as though when its a lot of guys leaving, you're rooting for laundry instead of the players. The good news is somethings never change, all recruits are potential all americans before the first game and we will always treat them as such!

I sorry but some on this Board would much rather be right so they can say "I told you so" and bring it up at every opportunity they can, than admit they are wrong, even if it means their supposed team fails.

Disingenous would be saying he cant shoot. All I did was give his fg%and 3%

And agree on sample size which is why I made sure I wrote no-one said he's a star and agree with you that he was a hustle guy

Somehow you got your wires crossed. I said Anderson was a shit coach. You say he was decent. My point was Pitino probably would have taken us to the NCAA's with the same roster. My point is there was no need to get rid of the players...just the coach.
Who are you to tell the coach his goal should be to just make the tournament? He could do that at Iona. He has higher goals than that. I really like Storr but I’ll let Pitino a HOF coach shop for his own groceries. It’s the way the game is played today it’s not the 1950’s, the Leave it to Beaver days are over in intercollegiate sports.

I guess that's true, if there were people rooting for us to get run out of MSG in the BET because they wanted CMA gone there certainly will be some that will root for failure here too. I just hope that it's a minority of posters. The good news is, whatever happens there will be "I told you so's" either way :D!

Maybe some less incentive for Timberlake to go there? Similar players it looks like based on state line, although Wojcik seems to be more of a 3/4 with the rebounding numbers.

Timberlake is on his official visit to UNC right now. Wouldn't be surprised if he pops for them before the dead period starts

Those stats are more misleading the CMA never had a losing season stat. There is a reason Stanley is going to end up at a school like Manhattan.

Either the ball goes in the hoop or it doesn't. What's your evidence he cant shoot ? Give me numbers other than free throw shooting

If constant player transfers bothers folks they are following the wrong sport. This is how it is now. And this is why I only have mild interest (at best) in the high school recruiting stuff. The only sure thing is constant change in roster composition. This is not a SJU thing this is a college basketball thing.

It is what it is.

Best of luck to all who have headed out of the constantly revolving SJU door. More will be following. And then others will use the door to enter.

There is skill in taking shots you know you can make. And while Stanley certainly wasn’t a featured player, there’s some sample size.

In two years he took 154 2’s.
He shot 65%.

Last year, in an all world season, Soriano took 209 2’s.
He shot 55%.
