Transfer Portal

That's actually hilarious. But just for the record. Some posters on this board were claiming Pitino had watched a ton of video before getting the job and already knew exactly who he wanted back. Also that it was guaranteed he would bring in 6-8 new players, because he said it during the press conference. Just saying 😉
How do we know that there will still not be six new players? He's already extended offers to fill six slots.

Two players were gone in week one. As OTIS surmised,
the number actually will be known only as offered players commit. Obviously the priority is talented and defensive minded guards. The other is a scoring forward not named Omar Stanley (Ledlum?). In the starting lineup I only see three must-have new players who are capable of starting immediately.

He's being wise to see who could fit the other 3 positions he sees as needing upgrading. It appears most of the kid's want to play for him so he could be very selective on the next five kid's who are already on the team.
In the end, we will have players who are all in because he gave them a shot after making a case to stay and be one of his players.

Agree I think that was part of his singling out only 2 the first day. Kids have to work for it. He was sending a message IMO

We don't know if there will be 6
new players...or 8 new players or 4 new players. Because Rick offered 6
kids does not mean we're getting 6 new kids. Coaches offer kids for a variety of reasons, and not always because they expect to get those kids. Anyhow, as I said in another post, we should know by later in the week which kids are staying and which kids are going. At that point, we'll know how many new kids we'll be getting.

I think Pitino sees only 3 critical positions to fill as starters.
I wouldn't be surprised that any additional players will be mid major kids who want to play on a bigger stage for a HoF coach.
We already have players with that level talent on the team in Posh, Wusu, King and Jones. Storr is capable of starting for Pitino.
We're soon going to find out where Curbelo and Mo Keita fit in and it is quite possible we see only 5 new players.
The objective is to have a tournament capable starting 5 and that means figuring out who the other 4, other than Soriano, will be on the team in October.
One committed recruit has already reopened his recruitment. Let's see what happens as you outlined above.

St John’s fans don’t usually sit tight all that well. Here’s to you, Walter, taking your time and making the right decision.

Caleb Love in the portal after a disappointing year where he was blamed for everything that went wrong with North Carolina. He’s looking to improve his game and turn himself into the best player he can be.

Where might that be?

(He played high school ball in St. Louis while Van was coaching at St. Louis Billikens.)

Agreed. As I said all season, we have plenty of kids on the roster who can play at this level in the 6-10 roles. What we needed was a stronger top 5. Of course, in addition to better coaching. Now, maybe Rick can take a couple of the kids and mold them in to top 5 kids. More likely it'll be Soriano and maybe Storr in the top 5, along with 3 newcomers as you mentioned.

Wow, that sounds verry inner-resting.

Here is what I wills say about must gets. No player is a must get because trust me Coach will get good players. So if he misses player A, trust me he will get another player of equal or better value.

More importantly he will coach them up as good as any coach in college basketball. Again you can say many things about Rick, much of it good but obviously a flawed man as well. But something even his critics agree, he is as good a coach as there has been in the last 30-40 years in CBB. Nobody denies that. He wins everywhere he goes. Stacked rosters, decent rosters. So no I am not worried if they don't land a certain player.

But what guise will be participating in whatever you want to call it?
Wish I had that scoop Bama, might be a clue of what may go down, but I'm out of guesses on what guide it'll be. Lol.
But do bet Paultzman will be the first to provide the answer to this news-hungry board.
