How do we know that there will still not be six new players? He's already extended offers to fill six slots. That's actually hilarious. But just for the record. Some posters on this board were claiming Pitino had watched a ton of video before getting the job and already knew exactly who he wanted back. Also that it was guaranteed he would bring in 6-8 new players, because he said it during the press conference. Just saying![]()
Two players were gone in week one. As OTIS surmised,
the number actually will be known only as offered players commit. Obviously the priority is talented and defensive minded guards. The other is a scoring forward not named Omar Stanley (Ledlum?). In the starting lineup I only see three must-have new players who are capable of starting immediately.
He's being wise to see who could fit the other 3 positions he sees as needing upgrading. It appears most of the kid's want to play for him so he could be very selective on the next five kid's who are already on the team.
In the end, we will have players who are all in because he gave them a shot after making a case to stay and be one of his players.
