Transfer Portal

Think UNC might be happy to see Love leave. My guess is he’ll score a bunch of point for a middling HM team next year.

FWIW, of the guys available immediately mentioned as potential targets for us this year, either 'officially' by Zach, Roger Rubin, et al, or by a poster, of 247 Sports' Top 137 Transfers available in the Portal:

1 Kel'el Ware
9 Joe Girard III
10 Caleb Love
11 Nick Timberlake
23 Chris Ledlum
31 Walter Clayton, Jr.
88 Sahvir Wheeler

...may have missed it, but didn't see Zach Hicks ranked, but what matters more, is what they do if Johnnies which, as we know, the HC plays a big part in, not their rank.

A major will pick him up. He might want to run the point which is what he was projected to be coming out of high school. He wound up playing more 2 with Davis playing the 1 and with Davis already announcing his return it would have been more the same next year.

The thing with Love is if he can reigned in a bit; he could be an asset. I thought he played better last season, although he averaged about a point more this season. Love was actually considered a top 25 pick in last season's NBA Draft had he came out.

Maybe a change of scenery can help him refocus for his final year in college. I'm on the fence when it comes to our staff going after him.

From Zach on today's visits and other spin:

Story on Rick Pitino making in-home visits for two top transfers: https://subtxt.to/nxl

I think it's awesome we continue to get daily press, can only help with fan interest. But what the heck does this mean, from the article:

-Pitino and his staff will be working out returning players starting on Tuesday.

Is he holding tryouts to see if the current players are worthy of returning?

Yeah, don't know and am also surprised, but would seem so unless Zach got it wrong.

Listening to Dave's Podcast with Zach the other day, it sounds like Zach's boss wants him to keep up the SJU articles while the Pitino driven interest is at a peak. I love the press as well, but don't know what to make of that one either. I'm just keeping an eye on the transfer portal. We'll know soon enough who is staying.

if I had to guess I would say he wants them to see what they should expect daily at practice under him and make sure it's something they want to commit to or not. Also for him to see if they are up for it as well. So yeah, he sort of is a tryout. I think it's a benefit for both sides to see.
