This will comes across as morbid, but I wonder how much Kansas going all in has to do with Self closing in on retirement.

His health issue was serious enough that it prevented him from coaching in the NCAA tournament.

Maybe Self has a quietly put a cap on the number of years he wants to go through the coaching grind and is going for one more big run.

That's a fair point.

Some very good choices for a young man who is getting his degree from Stanford in three years.

Michael, who also was a heavily recruited player for lacrosse like his brother, left Chaminade and spent his senior year at Blair Academy starting in the same backcourt as Kyle Cuffe Jr. to increase his basketball profile. It obviously worked.
Not necessarily true. He used up all 5 years of playing varsity basketball (2 at Carle Place 3 at Chaminade) by his junior year of high school. Would have been ineligible to play in NY as a senior. However everything has worked out for him and he is a hell of a young man.

I did not know he played at Carle Place first. If he had stayed at Carle Place, he could have played as a senior in high school. There are several examples of players who while in public middle school on Long Island played varsity sports and continued on through their senior year. Rob Hodgson and his brother Rex are two examples that come to mind but I know of others.

You are correct that the Catholic leagues does not allow it. LuHi as an independent also allows it.
