Transfer Portal

It's amazing to me that so many people don't understand what good leadership changes. It wouldn't be a miracle, it would be anticipated. Do I think they'd have won the league? Hell no. Do I think they'd have been in the post season with at least a chance? Hell yes.

Soriano, Storr, Posh. Wusu and Jones all have enough skill. GOOD coaching would ironed out character issues, motivation and running a more efficient offense.

Just my take....
Your opinion is yours as mine is mine . No right and wrong . I see it differently . If you seriously think the Roster from last year would hsve made the Tournament this season , then why was Anderson let go ? Why not keep everyone and change nothing

I also believe you have over valued the talent level of last years team . It’s a common issue with fans that believe with a little more this and a little more that , everyone can be a Winner .
BB players are what they are at this level . You aren’t going to change their games they have played for their entire careers . The Portal is a perfect example . Players are free agents able to move freely to other Colleges . Those most in demand are sought by most programs . Others kind of find their level elsewhere .
Posh has skills , without a doubt , he also has weaknesses , notably shooting the Ball . Pitino offered him a continuing role , which he rejected . Hey , that’s what the Portal is all about . He made the choice to enter the Portal and leave the program . That’s his choice .

Pitino , a HOF Coach felt the majority of this season ‘s team did not fit his standard of winning basketball . Why question him? You want him to keep all those players and “ Coach up and Lead ? “Why ? Doesn’t he have the chance to choose his own players and not retrain Anderson’s ? I think he does .

Per Zach:

"Sources close to Harvard transfer Chris Ledlum tells me visit went very well. Was adamant St. Johns is very much in the mix. Being close to home and playing for Rick Pitino are very attractive to Ledlum. Decision could come by the end of the week, but an exact time line remains fluid."

Hope it’s not the same source who told him that the meeting with Gardner went “very well”

I kinda remember the last 2 coaches before Anderson getting fired after making the NCAA Tournament

I’ll take it. Now we wait.

Him picking Indiana after being rumored to go there for so long would be funny after this quote.

It means something or it's an odd thing to bring up.
Don't want to think this way, and hope I'm wrong, but it 'could' be a tactic to squeeze more $$-Nil-$$'s from Indiana?
Another poster said this as well.
Hoping for the best for St. John's.
We shall see.

Question: why would someone give up a Harvard degree for SJU? I know that Szerbiack (sp) turned down Harvard to attend Miam of Ohio cause he knew his chances of making the NBA was slim to none playing for Harvard.

He's going to graduate from Harvard next month and is not eligible to continue playing there as the Ivy League doesn't allow grad students to participate in athletics

It’s very rare, though not unheard of for someone to say the visit was a bust.

Everyone once in a while I like to read an interview with quotes like ‘the team seemed directionless, the rim on the court was bent, and the coach mispronounced my name the whole time’. I mean there’s 358 teams, 13 players a team some visits have to have been complete disasters!

Not sure that’s quite the case. His dad was pushing for Duke and others to get involved. In the end they decided getting more minutes at Miami was better for his development than being an end of the bench guy for a Duke. It worked for him in the end.

This has been repeated many times and has always been the case even before COVID. They get four years period, no redshirts.

A Kid from Rice HS (whose name escapes me at this time) when Jarvis was the coach here said his visit was “terrible”. Among other turnoffs Jarvis repeatedly bad mouthed the competition.

Ah, the Jarvae years. Always brings back memories of smugness, nepotism and recruiting laziness.
