No it wasn't Robinson. The recruit went to the U.Russell Robinson.

I thought it was the kid from Amityville that ultimately went to Nova (forgot his name) who said the visit was terrible (we sent a station wagon to pick him up and Jarvis reportedly insulted the family in their living room). But I may misremember...

…with someone else’s recruits.And a BET championship and Elite 8
I know people hate him but in my lifetime of watching terrible ST John’s teams his first two teams were possibly my favorites. So can never hate on him.…with someone else’s recruits.

I’m relatively sure Panther knows the stories from back then because I think Fraser was one of his playersOthers can definitely confirm better than me, but I think Jarvis got thrown out of the gym over Robinson, and screwed up a Fraser home visit by angering the uncle.
The station wagon part I've never heard before but that's pretty embarrassing.![]()
Yeah, that was Jay Wright's first recruiting triumph over us.Jason Fraser
Jason Frasier I think. He subsequently suffered a debilitating knee injury that derailed his prospects. Anecdotally, Jarvis was really frustrated at the time by recruits and their handlers making all sorts of demands that other schools often gave into (such as paid speaking engagements at summer camps for AAU coaches). If Jason's family read this as harsh it was probably a combination of Jarvis being at the end of his ropes recruiting for a high D1 program, and could either have been truly insulting or that the kid and his family/handlers not being bowed down to. With NIL, can only imagine that entitlement among recruits has gotten much worse, which is one speculation that Wright resigned. This is not a defense of Jarvis, who despite his ability to coach, failed to significantly build upon a very good roster handed to him. In the end, he went out as an arrogant, above it all unlikeable person by all involved in the AD.I thought it was the kid from Amityville that ultimately went to Nova (forgot his name) who said the visit was terrible (we sent a station wagon to pick him up and Jarvis reportedly insulted the family in their living room). Just curious why people hold the Fran recruits over Jarvis but don’t have same anger towards Fran for being a nut.Yeah, that was Jay Wright's first recruiting triumph over us.
I could be wrong, but I recall the Jarvis years as initially great success, buoyed by Fran's recruits and then a slow-building disaster that ended in a train wreck.
That is a very good way to sum up the Jarvis years.Yeah, that was Jay Wright's first recruiting triumph over us.

And that was the bright side.Ah, the Jarvae years. Always brings back memories of smugness, nepotism and recruiting laziness.
And that was the bright side.![]()

Mahoney won tournament game with players Louie never played. Actually probably the single greatest coaching season in ST John’s history.Nice, with Fran's players, guy is a sleaze.
