Transfer Portal

I had posted earlier that I felt we finally have a relevant and proven hire as Coach. Also, implied if RP can't bring us back to relevance we are doomed to our past 20+years of futility. Its frustrating at this stage to be losing and not gaining players. I am downgrading my optimism to "Cautiously Optimistic" based on no commitments and virtually no positive recruiting news at all. I'm beginning to suspect we are at our "future" status right now.

Primo Spears lacked a very big intangible. A coach!
Georgetown sucked not because the players sucked but because they were allowed to run amuck much like our players this past year.
Posh didn’t suck but next to Andre Curbelo he didn’t know his role any longer. By mid-February it was too late. The damage was done. The backcourt sucked compared to that of the top of the league.

Don’t disagree with most of what you said but bottom line is Posh and many of our so called BASKETBALL players can’t accomplish the most important skill in the game, PUT THE BALL IN THE BASKET!!!

Khalif Battle to Arkansas. Btw I think it was Tipton but somebody tweeted that Arkansas had contacted 85 players in the Portal. I mean Musselman loves the Portal.

I think I've read that he's a handful to deal with, but never know if that's just a bitter fanbase. Plus it would be hard to out-ego Musselman. Definitely can put the ball in the hoop though.

Here is a good website for anyone curious to know what the top players are making with NIL. I didn’t know specific numbers.

A guy like Tyler Kolek, Big East Player Of The Year, is ranked #23 for 370k
Those are not actual numbers just an estimate of "value" based upon their algorithm that incorporates performance, marketability, social media exposure and the size of the collective at that school. For example, Nigel Pack is valued at $94K, but it is known that he got a deal with the Miami booster that owns Life Wallet for $800K over 2 years. BTW, Posh is #42 at $183K.

Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but can anyone tell me who has been interested in storr, posh, and gardner? I haven't seen or heard anything about being in contact with any p6 school or taking unofficial or officials. The most I saw once was teams reaching out to storr.

Correct.
That marketability is a big factor. If you are a female gymnast with a hot body and 1 million dirty old men following you, you'll see big $$ allocated.
If you are an elite male gymnast, not too much.

Performance is relative to the sport and, in college basketball, the team whose jersey you wear. Our jersey is not a national brand name right now but having Rick Pitino now associated with the brand will only raise the brand value.

I can see a player like AJ Storr radically increasing his NIL value but Posh not as much based upon performance.
Of course a team desperate for a player at a certain position will always find Bubba Motors to payroll a kid in Padduka, USA.

What these poor kids have to do nowadays to get some spending money while in college. 😥😭

From Zach: Ledlum visiting Sunday but a long shot:

Harvard transfer Chris Ledlum will visit St. John's Sunday. They are believed to be a long shot to land him. Indiana is the favorite with Tennessee also in the mix.
