Transfer Portal Mania

NO......you said he similar to those players......who had complimentary talent on those nationally ranked Louisville teams.
Rutgers was nowhere near in comparison to those Louisville teams and Cliff was not a difference maker in one single game this season. In fact, he faded entirely by mid February. His stats are embellished by 5 or 6 stellar double double games against inferior opponents.
That's why I never would pay Dickinson level money to such a player.
Cliff is a tremendous athletic center whose main strength is rebounding....period.
He is no Chris Obekpa when it comes to blocked shots but has enough anticipation instincts to block a few. He's an horrendous foul shooter.
That said, I would not turn him down as long as his NIL is not disproportionate with his talent level.
He's not going to be brought in for his offense. That's what the other 4 guys on the floor will be for. Rutgers has a top 5 defense in the country this year, they just don't have any guards or wings that can do anything on offense. Out of more than 3,000 rotation players in division 1, only 2 of them block a higher % of shots against than Cliff does.

You sir, are an idiot

Costanza.... no need for name calling.
If I were you I would stick to making believe you are a marine biologist or an architect rather than a basketball guru.
If you think Cliff had a "break-the-bank" NIL year, you are an imposter who hasn't watched his games this year.
Here's a mental exercise for you genius......go to his stats for the year and remove his double double games against the likes of L.I.U., Stonehill, Bryant, Howard and Saint Peter's early in season and then tell us his points, blocks and rebounding numbers.
You will see a very pedestrian output. I gave him comps on where his skills lie but his overall numbers against quality competition are not even close to Joel Soriano.
Rebounding is a TEAM effort ! You don't break the bank for a rebounder.
Here's one that will wet your Depends......I would take a passing and scoring big man like Robbie Avilla before Cliff.

Don’t ever say Bobby Bonilla again :). 0 % chance hypothetically Cliff or someone with his stats breaks the bank for us

Your comment "He is no Chris Obekpa when it comes to blocked shots but has enough anticipation instincts to block a few" is the most asinine thing posted on this board aside from all of Marillac's blind Jenkins hate over the past 4 months.

Cliff blocks 12.8% of opponent's shots when he is on floor this season which is 3rd among all division 1 players. If we limit that to just conference play where he's going against the likes of Zach Edey, Kel'el Ware, Rienk Mast, Steven Crowl, Coleman Hawkins etc. that number is.... 12.8. 1st in the Big 10. If we go even further and narrow it down to just Quad 1 & 2 games that number actually improves to 13.1.

Cliff is single handedly carrying Rutgers to a top 5 defense this year. Unfortunately they have a DePaul level offense. Nobody is arguing Cliff has any offensive ability on his own. He needs good players to get him the ball for easy looks, much like guys I mentioned previously that Pitino won national championships, big east championships and multiple second weekends with in the past 15 years. We should have guys like that on the team next year.

Cliff and Soriano are different players and a legitimate argument could be made that both of them and their teams would be better off if they were traded for each other before the season.

Very fair post but disagree with your last paragraph. Personally imo don’t think this team we have now would be better with Cliff. I think we would need better pieces offensively because also don’t think getting the ball down low is one of our strengths

That's fair but I'd argue the fact that not getting the ball down low being one of strengths actually makes Cliff better for us than Soriano because Soriano needs the ball and needs to score to have an impact on the game. Cliff rarely gets the thrown the ball as is and still has a massive impact on the game.

The lateral quickness deficiencies of our perimeter defenders are completely erased by a rim protector like Cliff, who also has some mobility to defend on the perimeter himself when needed. He's Zuby on 1998 MLB steroids

We would have seen more Dunlap because feeding the post is probably what he was most smooth at in an uneven freshman year.

Talk about idiotic comments, your first paragraph borders on moronic!
"Cliff better for us than Soriano"
"Cliff has a massive impact on the game"
"Soriano needs the ball and needs to score to have an impact on the game"

You see genius, none of what you hypnotized are true. Soriano has been a double-double machine. Soriano is in the top 50 nationally in both rebounding and blocks.

Except for a couple of games this season, name any games that Rutgers has won where he had a MASSIVE impact. Yes, he had a big impact leading his team to a losing season under one of the best coaches in the country.

Yes Nostradamus, Soriano and the 3,000 other Division 1 starters need the ball and to score to impact the game. However, this is college basketball where guards rule the offense and the 3 point shot, and the ability to make it, trumps blocking some drives to basket.

Finally, stop misinterpreting the wisdom I share with you. I simply stated that Cliff is not a player worth "breaking the bank" for. Why? Because I feel that kind of money goes to a marquee player that is a constant scoring threat. If he is a big man with that skill set then by all means give him 6 figure Dickinson money. But if you watched Houston humiliate Kansas by 30 points the other day you would realize even with Dickinson, if your guards shoot 3-21 in three pointers, you can suck royally.

Now, go save a whale or design a skyscraper!😎

Don't want to beat a dead Zed, but regarding Key, I've heard he's on the radar but back channel talks have cooled. I'm pretty sure that means staff is aiming for a much higher ceiling to start things off as evidenced by some of the names, but I guess we'll see if we circle back. I know circling back means portal failure for a lot of you, so I guess just cross your fingers.

How did I get dragged into this😂
