Transfer Portal 2022

Mayer would be dream scenario I just can’t imagine he’s transferring from baylor to come to sju. Probably done with college ball.

On paper Creighton might be as good of a team as the new Big East has had.

Do you really believe the Creighton team is poised to be better than the 2017- 2018 Villanova team that won the national title by defeating UMichigan by 17 points in the national championship game ?

Well, if Creighton finishes first in the Big East this coming season then they will have accomplished something that that Villanova team didn't . . .

Every program in the country is going to want Mayer on its team. Very good player, versatile, can plays multiple spots, can shoot but also score a variety of ways and athletic as hell (don't let the mullet fool you). Beyond being a really good player, kid is winner, competitor and instantly makes any team better.

And for whoever said he was slow, played on probably best defensive team college basketball has seen in recent memory 2 years ago

Lowering expectations re portal outcomes now may be in order, but a surprise would be nice

So we don’t have to worry about losing a post player NOmar?
Again the Portal is 365 days a year. You can theoretically transfer anytime. Although football is looking to change that btw.

So a player can still transfer but that player is no longer automatically eligible for next year.

Yeah I get it and was just making a joke. Regardless it has to be a good sign if they have stayed put through that date.

You would think so but with our history, you kind of expect something else to happen and not in a positive way.

Here is the question, SJU has a number of players on the roster who already transferred and used the one time exception.

So if they do decide to transfer again they would need a waiver. In that case what difference does May 1 make?

Does the NCAA care if that player was in the portal by May 1st or not (technically the rule is they needed to give formal notice within 48 hours before end of May 1) with regards to a waiver? My guess is no.

So in that case not sure if May 1 means a lot to some of the kids on the roster.

Aside from Mathis who I could see getting “squeezed” isn’t Soriano the only other guy who has transferred so far. And I doubt he would leave seeing as he brought in his buddy jones. My reference was to the sophomore front court player who’s most likely to see his minutes affected by Jones.

Example Cam Holden entered portal after 5/1. Needs a waiver anyway since he used 1 time transfer exception last year. Also he is a grad transfer so maybe easier to get waiver. But May 1 means little in that case.

Yes those 2 off the top of my head and I never said any were thinking of transferring I don't believe they are. All I said was the 5/1 deadline means little in those cases
