Sounds like Illinois is the favorite for Jones. Bunch of different things going on w Illinois so let’s see how it shakes out.

Ok, so it's clear now that Slater is just really bad at this new thing he's trying of posting a gif to respond to people, I guess he's trying to generate more interaction with his page. But, now he's saying put stock into Jones wanting to play with Curberlo. So, you are correct his earlier tweet he was talking about something else and not that Jones wasn't interested in St. John's.

 
I'm not sure about others, but as an out of town fan I come to this board to get some up to date and more plugged-in info then I would normally be able to find. The back and forth between posters can get a little tiresome, and detracts from the reason most of us (I assume) come to redmen.com. To me, an honest difference of opinion can be interesting to read, but the personal stuff gets old fast.

what is the bottom line ? Is St. John’s rumored to get a new recruit ?

Yesterday when asked about Jones, Slater posted a gif basically hinting at payments were involved and St. John's was not one of the schools involved in this situation. Today, he posted that the rumors that Jones wanted to play with Curberlo are true.

So, just to recap, he's been very vague, but from listening to people in the know and from gathering whatever Slater was trying to say, there's reason for slight optimism that St. John's will be an option for Jones.
 
Very much hope you are right Paultz. Somehow I can't help but think of the St. John's fan mantra here - hope for the best but....

I personally would feel a bit uncomfortable about it. I'm sure I'd get over it. But I know how crappy we'd all feel if this happened to our program.
 
I don’t understand the trepidation with wanting a player inside the BE. If he’s in the portal and, especially, expressing an interest in joining the program and we haven’t circumvented any kind of rule…why wouldn’t we try to get him on board? Because of some supposed etiquette that’s been breached before by other, less upstanding coaches/programs that has nothing to do with now?
