Time to Hire ...

Time to hire ...... a management consultant to assist selection of a new coach.

There are companies that are routinely hired to manage the D1 coach hiring process.

Let me ask you: who do you have more confidence in, a consultant that has aided in the selection process many- many times before, or Monasch?

Obviously a firm, but we are only fans speculating. Who do you want?

Lavin will be here for a while ! Give him a couple of years more.
All about recruiting. Was put in a bad situation to field a whole team.
Don't insult him by even starting a thread like this.

By the way, no way Massiello or Hurley would ever be here at STJ.

Orlando Antigua. Tough NY guy and former player who has been learning under Jamie Dixon and now Calipari. Also an excellent recruiter. Someone's going to make him a HC very soon. Why not us?
He's Calipari's bag man. He hands paper bags of cash to recruits.

Perfect. Lets hire both of them.

Pearl is allowed to Coach after August of this year. He was the guy I wanted when we hired Lavin. Was told not good hire because he was a Jew by some here!
REALLY, who?

Four years ago , When I mentioned him under another name and few other posters mentioned Seth Greenberg. they were met with anti-semetic opinions. The school will never hire a Jew and few posters said they did not want them because of their religious beliefs. I responded saying that the school should give the Belsons back there money then. Those posters shut their mouths.

Both bruce Pearl and Seth Greenberg should be considered as potential candidates as they have won at the highest level. They are both considered good coaches and have recruited well.
I would hope their religion would not be a factor.
Larry Brown should not be considered not because of his religion but because he is just too old.

The school is going to stay with Lavin and you can have a thousand threads on this and it wont change that fact. But I see a bright side to Lavin and that is he really really wants to win. He cant leave now because it would be a reflection on him and a confirmation of all the UCLA critique. He wants to eventually get us to the Final Four and I think he can. The question is will he.

Bruce Pearl is a great hire for any program. Tubby Smith was a good hire for TT and 62 is not old IMO.

I never understand why Seth Greenberg's name gets brought up as a good coach. He went to the NCAA Tournament ONCE in his 9 years at Va Tech. He had a 66-71 conference record there.

Bruce Pearl went to the Tournament all six years as a coach at Tennessee, including 2 Sweet Sixteens and an Elite 8. His conference record was 65-31.

Because we like bald coaches. It is our age group.

Seth recruited well to Va Tech. He was competing against ACC blue bloods. One year, he didn't get a bid with 26 or 27 wins, albeit his OCC schedule was weak. But he amassed that record in a great basketball conference.

Then he better get a tactical on the scale of Dunlap that know what the hell he`s doing, if not then it will be the same as this year.
If that`s the case then why keep him?
My gut feeling is if he gets extended and he recruits for 2015, you don`t think he`ll get 3 years with them and see if he can win with them? That would be 15,16, and 17.

Anyone wants to chance him coaching here another 4 years? Pick and choose.

Class of 72 Larry Brown will be 74 in September of this year, I am not sure who is 62.

Age is not a factor for me if you can still get the job done at a high level
Look at Jim Larranaga
Won the ACC last year and doing a fabulous job rebuilding at the U this year at age 63

I think he is referring to Tubby Smith

Since I have done my share of complaining about Lavin, I thought I would throw out my list of attractive candidates (to me). They are in no special order, except P.J. is my top choice.

PJ Carliesimo (Unemployed)
Tommy Amaker (Harvard)
Mark Few (Gonzaga -Current Salary: $750,000)
Danny Hurley (Rhode Island)
Randy Bennett (St. Mary’s)
Steve Wojciechowski (Duke –Asst.)
Steve Prohm (Murray State)

Just wanted to put this list out there again to see how everyone feels about some of these potential candidates......
