The Tulsa rumors

I, for one, believe that the roster severely underperformed its talent level.  As I have said throughout, just a little short in several aspects and a few bounces of the ball or free throws made and we are playing post-season play.  Yeah, yeah, you are what your record says,.  But it is not that easy.
Agree. The roster that Lavin inherited was no great shake in the prior year and turned into a pretty good team once they were seniors and used properly.

This was just posted a few minutes ago on the Tulsa World website.  People Tulsa should call:

https://twitter.com/TWSportsExtra/status/1503490420067733506On that note...Dickson should call Mike Anderson.Anderson sought the TU job before landing his first coaching position in 2002. If he wants it now, after leading Missouri, Arkansas and St. John’s, Dickson needs to ask why.Why leave St. John’s one year after being named Big East Coach of the Year and receiving a six-year contact extension? Is this a coach running to a new job or running from his old one?Frank Haith was running from Missouri and not toward TU in 2014. Derrick Gragg, TU’s AD at the time, missed that red flag, hired Haith anyway and now Dickson must resuscitate the entire program with this hire.

Really surprised that there weren't any comments from anyone today.

On second thought, I really shouldn't be surprised.

There must be something to the rumors or why wouldn’t Anderson just to put the two recruits already signed and those being worked on at ease. Teams usually don’t like to give the opposition any opening especially in this era of the transfer portal.
Anderson may not end up at Tulsa but there must be some consideration going on.

6 year extension ? That has to be in name only with much les buyout. Half of us might not even be alive in 6 years that's so far away

I have no idea who this dude is or if he would hear anything from anybody that would actually know something. I hate being teased like this though.
This guy writes an Arizona blog. Could his source be Book Richardson who Pitino has wanted to hire? Interesting.

There are several coaches with games next week in the NCAA rumored for jobs -- some for months -- that haven't come out and issued a statement that they are staying at their current school.  I'm not surprised there is nothing yet from our camp.

A mid-major coach looking for a payday isn't going to issue a statement saying he's staying unless he wants to look like a liar.

Has Willard said anything regarding Maryland job? Been hearing his name linked for months.

I just don’t see St. John’s hiring a guy that banged a woman (not his wife) on a restaurant table. I guess we shall see

Exactly. Maybe it won’t be Seton Hall, but no way is Pitino finishing his career out in the MAAC. And how will people here feel when he turns around whatever program he goes to? He is literally in our backyard. Coaching for a Catholic school, no less. We need to at least make a serious run at him.

I don’t understand how anyone in the world can possibly believe that either firing Anderson OR having him leave for Tulsa makes St Johns a MORE desirable job than it was when he was hired and we were fortunate to land him given some of the other options.

I find this board to be a place where (mostly) reasonable fans can have an informed, respectful debate but on other forms of social media there is a lack of intelligence and self-awareness regarding the program that just blows my mind. Clamoring for a well respected coach (regardless of if you personally respect him this is how he’s perceived in the coaching community) to be fired for underperforming for the first time just one season after we all praise him for winning Big East COY and OVERperforming makes this fanbase seem schizophrenic at best. Cragg & Anderson haven’t been waiting for this program to right the ship for 20+ years like the fans have. Certain portions of this fanbase should stop unloading all the frustration for those years into this one season of dissapointment. Cragg and Coach have been here for 3 and people are calling for their heads and wishing they’d leave. Careful what you wish for.

QueensBall, you make a lot of good points. But you are overlooking the personal / lifestyle factors of the people involved here. CMA also has a spouse. Remember, he came here on exceptionally short notice, having just been fired from Arkansas. NYC is not everyone's cup of tea.
