First team since 1991 to sweep a series of ten or more games at home. Only has happened six times in the modern era of baseball. Colon sixth pitcher over 40 to start a season 4-0. Same start as 1986. Tie for longest winning streak in Met history. Best record in baseball.
 
Lagares made an amazing catch last night, one that even he calls the "best I've made". Shades of Willie Mays in the 54 series (before I was born) plus he had to battle the wind.

that was a thing of beauty. I actually look forward to shots to the outfield to see what he does. he closes gaps so smoothly

Best catch I seen was Jim Edmonds in center, running full speed to the outfield wall and made a full lunging dive. I did see the Lagares catch. I'll see it on Youtube later.

Pineda abd CC are no slouches either, can't wait. Yeah mets are hot, but Yanks won 6-7, and just took 3 of 4 @ Detroit.

Yep, it's all about NY. They say NY sports is dead huh? Well if the Islanders win the next 2 games then we'll have an all NY series in the 2nd round.
This might be the most anticipated subway series since the WS, the Mets want to be called NY team, and both teams are playing real good. Dare I say world series/subway series part 2?

Yeah it's still to early, but NY would have baseball on lockdown

Back to the Ranger game briefly. Know what my first thought was when Hagelin scored that game winner? How sweet it would be to hear MSG so damn loud for SJU.
That's what I want in the worst f'ing way.

Of course he's a Yankees fan. Figures. And oldschool redmanfan, the Mets don't want New York. Taking things that don't belong to them is strictly within the province of Wal-Mart--I mean, the Yankees.
deGrom will have four bad starts all year. He got one out of his system early in a stadium that has little league dimensions to right field. Tough place to pitch as a righty.

I'm very impressed with the way they bounced back today after the winning streak ended. That showed what this team is made of. Nobody better than Harvey to take the mound the day after. Take this series and move on to Miami. My poor planning left has me in Kentucky this week to miss that series.

Montero is getting a spot start against Miami so deGrom is pitching Thursday and Harvey Friday.
 
Happy about the win and Harvey delivering another prime time type win and making it just regular.

That said, those three homers hit by the Mets should come with an asterisk. The dimensions at the new Yankee Mall are ridiculous. None of our three homers would be a homer anywhere else in the pros. Joke.

Hopefully they can take two of three. Nice to bounce back with a game like this after a loss. Good stuff early on.

You're damn right I'm a Yankee fan. Been since the mid 80s, so you can't say that I jumped on the band wagon in the mid/late 90s.

Don't hate the Yankees because they dominated the Mets in the 2000 WS.
