Syracuse

We played great team BB. DLO was awesome offensively and defensively. Dom was truly Cosco. Greene was clutch and CO did a great job and was a monster rebounding. Very enjoyable W. Congrats to our players.

Remember the Bootsy Thornton (42pnt?) game, ot loss against Duke at MSG?

I'll predict a 32pnts game for Green, hitting 7 3s at Syracuse.
Will be his finist moment in the SJU uniform.
SJU 82 Cuse 71

This game on Saturday, Dec. 6th, ignites the whole team, and everyone including the bench players picks up their game, and we don't lose again until sometime in February.
This game could give us the spark that we need.

OldSchool Redmen,

First off, since no one else said it, welcome to the chaos & mayhem that is Redmen.com.

Second, I like the optimism of your debut.

Third, so we can get to know you better, please tell us where you stand on:

1) Lavin’s sense of fashion. His wife (hot or not?). His recruiting record, his Xs & O’s, his use of time-outs, benching players, etc.
2) CA: dimly lit dump or glorious throw-back?
3) Our fans: passionate, loyal and knowledgable, or crusty old goats who like to backstab and contradict each other?
4) MSG: should we play there? Are MSG and NYC really effective recruiting tools?
5) Keady: valuable mentor or only here for an easy buck?
6) All-time favorite Redman?

None of the above will be used against you, we promise.

I am kidding of course. I sincerely hope you enjoy this site as much as I do.

See I was right about Phil, not sure if he hit 7 3s, but he shined in the clutch.
I predicted they'd win by 11, well I was one off as they won by 12.
Finally I predicted gthat this gamewill spark this team, well stay tuned for that.

Great win kids. Now onto FDU on wednesday.

You pretty much nailed it! I hope you are right about this sparking a run. It should definitely build confidence. This might not be the strongest 'Cuse team but take nothing away from our guys, we went into the lions den and were not intimidated. Impressed by everyone's effort today. All heroes. Dealt with zone D very well and the sight of the Dome emptying early was a joy.

NY is RED

WOW!!! I had to DVR the game and just finished watching.

Incredible effort by the guys. Phil was absolutely onions.

This game is out of control and it's now officially over for us. We are just not good enough on the offensive end. We don't shoot the ball with any consistency.

This team's biggest problem is that losers tend to lose.

Seriously, can we ban this clown?

Why because it angers me that we as fans have to watch the same mistakes by coaches and players year after year after year?

How about you enjoy the game like the rest of us and stop calling the kids losers.

That was more a reference to the staff than anything else.

won twenty games last year but they are losers???

great ball movement down the stretch. Nothing to do with coaching though

now come on...you have to give Lavin a little bit of credit here....

I do, all the teaching and coaching which no one recognizes in hours and hours of practice, is invisible to the naked eye when the players don't execute during the games. That is why so much banter here is just hogwash.

We had some of the best set plays out of timeouts that I've seen in all year from anyone. Even the biggest Lavin haters have to give him credit for tonight...changing d well, making adjustments, giving Cooney different looks, taking Christmas out of the game in the second half by fronting more.

We got wide open looks out of nearly every time out....missed a lot (like that Branch shot blocked by mccullagh) but the Dom drives to suck the d in and then laser passes to a driving Jordan were insanely welly orchestrated.

Maybe the best news out of this win is we beat a team that zones 100% of the time, practices the zone 100% of the time and arguably plays the toughest zone in the country. Playing the zone has always been our achilles heel but maybe now teams can't just go to the zone when they need to stop us. If we can play against the zone as well as we did today, we will beat a lot of people this year.

Article does not give SJU any credit for playing great D or mentioning they were beaten by a better team

What I like most about the win was the team asserting themselves after Cuse came back from 8 down in the second half and took the lead. There are few gimme games once conference play starts. You have to close out games well, and steal some wins in the last few minutes.

Good look into future for Obekpa...Christmas offensive stats mirrored Chris' stats thru 1st 3 years and hehas blossomed into a deent offnsive player as a senior...hopefully Chris sees a senior season as an opportunity to fill out his repertoire

I'm still buzzing about this win. Anyone who minimizes beating Syracuse at the Carrier Dome will never understand the essence of being a St. John's fan. Great work by our boys!

reading that "Dead Storm" article from bigeastboards.com is a bit like reading
a well read, 10th grader's first essay of some aspect of life. That is, it is rife with self-importance, sarcasm posing as wit, and one insight. The latter being that the author admittedly wrote if before the game and was forced to temper it a bit with
edits after the fact. Actually he doesn't need a spot on bigeastboard.com, he could just post here in real time and fit right in.
