Syracuse molestation allegation

Coach Boeheim should do the right thing and resign.
How could it never occur to him something is wrong when a teenage boy is traveling with his team and he sees him lying down in Bernie Fine's bed?
Willful blindness?  
 
Fair questions for Boeheim:

1. Did former Syracuse Police Chief (former SU player/ current Boeheim Foundation Board member) Dennis Duval ever tell you about the 2002 complaint of sexual abuse his department receive against Coach Fine?

2. If so, what did you do to investigate the claims of sexual abuse against a ball boy for his basketball program?
 
What bothers me, and doesn't surprise me with the way SU runs their university, is that Boeheim seems to be untouchable. He can say what he wants, do what he wants, and he continues to get a bode of confidence. Surprisingly, the media and the rest of this country, including most sports people think he should be fired or resign. I have been having this debate with Cuse people all week, and I continue to say, there is NO way he shouldn't have at least been suspicious, which in this situation should make him be ousted. He was best friends with this guy for 50 years! He saw kids in he hotel room, come on. He might truly not have none the severity, but it is very alarming. I played competitive sports in high school and college, and traveled around the country with 2 sports from the age of 8 until I graduated college, and it would be impossible for a coach to ever have weird relationships without someone being alarmed. When I played youth hockey, our coaches, who were usually in there 20s/30s (usually married or a gf but sometimes single guys) never ever would be alone with a kid on the team. In fact, coaches I recall used to shy away from 'hanging' out with us on tournaments, even when a group of us would knock on a hotel door and beg. I vaguely remember a coach of another team that I had friends on who would sometimes hang with the kids in large groups and the parents stopped it, so come on. 
 
I have seen reports that for a Div. I men's BB program it is completely unheard of for ball boys to be going on road trips with the team. Think about it for a second, who the heck needs the ball boys on the road?

For one thing who could justify paying airfare, bus fare and hotel charges for a ball boy on a road trip anywhere.

That alone should have raised suspicions.

Someone should have been fired over the University spending money to fly a ball boy and pay for his hotel room on a road trip.

One nugget emerged during Boeheim’s chat with reporters: Ball boys — the first two accusers were ball boys when the alleged abuse occurred — don’t travel with the team, ever. (Boeheim estimated there have been 1,500 ball boys/girls during his time at the school.) Bobby Davis, the first to make the accusations, told ESPN that he slept in the same bed as Fine when some of the instances of molestation took place......

“There (are) no ball boys who travel with the team,” Boeheim said. “People who have been ball boys have moved on and done other things. It’s not unusual for those people to travel during tournament time. Not ball boys.”....

Interesting to see if JB's statements can be vetted.

Mike Francesa does seem to come out swinging hard at Penn State and Joe paterno, not so much with his friend JB/Syracuse. Like he gives JC/Uconn a pass and constantly criticizes the NCAA and all "their stupid rules". The guy obviously likes to be friends with two Hall of Fame coaches.

Did he really say that, or are you liberally paraphrasing? That comment is beyond dumb. Paterno never saw a kid get raped either, and he deserved to go.

If Paterno knew, Boehiem knew as well, imo. They are both the faces of their Universities. Nothing is/was done without their blessing.

He has given Boeheim a lot more rope than Paterno. But he never like Paterno. The way he has handled the stories just goes to prove Francesa is a duplicitous arse.

liberally paraphrasing. He's been defending his pal Boeheim with the defense "he wouldnt have been so adament denying the charges if he knew" and his other defense is "What happened at Penn state was worse".
 
I highly doubt that Boeheim is interested in any contract extension.

 .. from an impeccable source: Boeheim is in the 2d year of a 5 year deal that allows him to retire from coaching at any time to assume the position of Senior Associate Athletic Director, or like title with the same salary. Before recent events I was told that Boeheim would likely finish this season and perhaps one other. The same source said that Hopkins contract provides that he will assume the head coaching position upon Boeheim's departure as head coach.

He's too smug to leave on just those early comments. And he can now also hide behind his retraction. And when he said last night that he's not consulted on anything, and has no control over anything (other than basketball) that's pure baloney. Just like JoPa, he's king up there.

"I reacted without thinking," Boeheim said about his initial response. "I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I'm trying to learn from my mistake. That's all I can say. There is an investigation going on, which I fully support. We all need to know as much as we can as to what happened."
