Syracuse Game

People need to encourage the casual fan to go who maybe hasn't been to a game in a while. Hopefully students show up and treat this like playing Duke.

A home court advantage would be a nice thing to have on Sunday.

Also keep it close you usually tend to have a couple people swing mid game. OFten occurs against Duke majority of fans for them then if we are close the fans turn to our side.

Was at the game today, Cuse friends bought both games and gave me todays game for free. Great to see the way we played today and I am pumped for Sunday as you all know how I feel about Cuse. However, I did not want to go to the game Sunday with Cuse fans, and am now scrambling for tickets. If anyone has tickets they are looking to get rid of (obviously willing to pay) to a SJU fan, I am interested. The stubhub prices/ticketmaster prices are not worth what is left, so if anyone has some decent seats for a decent price please pm me. Looking for two tickets, and could easily get them before the game Sunday, or figure out another way. I live in Manhattan and work on LI so pretty flexible. Thanks and Lets Go Redmen.

I think you might be able to get tickets thru the ticket office at st johns, I know they had tickets this week in the $85 and $35 range

A win in this game could be SJU punching its ticket into the tournament with even a .500 record in the Big East. It would also an entry into the top 25. The RPI boost will be absurd, as this is a ROAD game and Cuse is top 5.

This is a potential season-changing game.

Why do you call it a road game?

Exactly. Meant to write "also" not as.

WHEN we beat Syracuse next week we will be ranked that Monday . Cuse will be the number 2 team in the nation when we play them. Playing two teams in the top 5 before conference play even starts is a great look . (Wisconsin will be ranked #5 on Monday)

I've had 4 season tix since 1979 and had a son who graduated from Syracuse and I'm tired of not only losing to "Cuse but getting ribbed by my son. So this year I bought two extra tix to the Cuse game to celebrate my oldest son's birthday, ( he went to St. Joe's in Philly.) and taking my wife and sons wives. This is the only game( or one of the few games) that Cuse plays at the Garden this year so of course all their local alumni and fans will try to get seats for this game. And our team hasn't been so good for too long. So I understand why there is so much orange at our games. When we start to win consistently and are ranked again we will draw at MSG. That's just the way it is. SJU made somewhat of an effort to promote this game and even held back sales to give our fans an edge in purchasing them, but I have no doubt that there will be more orange than red. Heck, they even outnumbered us by thousands a few years ago during a snowstorm. But if this team plays as a team and shares the ball as they did yesterday they can compete with anyone. So hope springs eternal and I'll be rooting for SJU to beat SU (as in SUck) on Sunday.

It would be a signature Win for Lavin, maybe the biggest of his career, if the Redmen beat the orangemen.. One of the keys will be neutralizing the Cuse Zone, in a innovative and yet unseen way.. Maybe Steve hasn't unveiled an offensive plan that he's been saving for just this game?

Defeating the orange requires discipline in moving the ball quickly for a open jumper from the wing or,elbow..Sanchez could be a key to the game with his passing down low with Sampson especially, getting underneath the back part of the zone..Obepka might have to get a few put backs of missed bunnies too.

Reverting to the lazy, side to side motion and the long 3's will not help, until you can get the zone to falter by what you're doing with the ball. If Jordan can penetrate a little and get the open pull up jumper, that will help immensely.Greenie should not be monopolizing the ball in this game, it would be fatal.

cuse is also a very athletic team and cooney shoots light out, almost as good as gerry mac. We can't let him get 15-18 points from long range.

It's a tall order but, this team will need a milestone win sometime this season.. Getting it done in December is a big plus.

Yea, I thought because you wrote "as" that we were gonna get more of an RPI boost just because there are more Cuse fans.

My brother in law and my 2 son in laws are going to take a chance and drive to the Stubhub office in NYC the morning of the game in the hope of getting 4 tickets! If we don't luck out there is always a local NYC bar around MSG to watch the game!

Why do that?
Why not just buy them on Stubhub now?

We are hoping that the ticket prices the day of the game will come down significantly rather than eat the tickets. Of course if it is a sellout this is all moot!

Do you think you are going to a flea market at closing????
If St. John's fans are not at this game, they will be apathetic to the Big East games!
So sad! :sob:

The cheapest tickets are 46 bucks right now. How much more are you looking for them to drop? Just curious. Not trying to bust balls. The cheapest tickets for sale from Ticketmaster are 50 bucks. So your already under face value.

If you can get tickets for 46 bucks you should be hopping all over that. That's a great deal for a game against the team that will be number 2 in the country. I'd be shocked if tickets go much under that

To date I have attended 4 games this year 72. The Syracuse game will be my 5th. I need to take into consideration the financial constraints of the other 3 people who want to join me. I am sure that even you can understand this!

I agree with both points but the past two games we saw something new: passing over the defense. This last game we saw something sorely lacking, passing into and within the zone - or passing into the defense at all which has been almost non existent up to the GT game. Getting the ball inside and kicking it out also gave our shooters better shots that they hit at a higher percentage.

People think of Bootsy Thornton as a 3pt shooter but he was really exceptional off the ball even under the basket where he spent a lot of time stealing rebounds from guys with 6+ inches on him. I'd like to see Green develop into that kind of player with less emphasis on the three or hovering around the perimeter, and more on offensive rebounding and maximizing our second chances.

Re tix I just realized I'm going to be in town for the Columbia game at Barclay's. Think I might drag my son to it, let my wife get back in touch with the Slope where we first lived together for 8 years. I'm willing to buy face value tickets and there seems to be a lot available. Anyone else thinking of attending?

Re the thread subject, noting on this Fordham game replay that the team passed well out of the post, ran some effective hi-lo post plays and did try and penetrate. Will need to execute thost three things extremely well to pull the upset.
