Syracuse Game

The clock is ticking on Syracuse. JB and I were in school at the same time and I saw NYU beat Dave Bing and JB and Chuck Richards at the old 49th St. MSG and I'm old. After JB, with their ACC links, they will become as stepchild-like as BC.

Couldn't agree more. This will be accelerated when Jimmy B. retires.

Buy a mini plan for MSG get 4 games , Cuse game included, seats in the 100's comes out to 50 bucks a ticket approx. Good deal.

But that means fans of our team have to show up at more than 1 game.

A lot of people have that assumption but their administration will never de- emphasize basketball and will do what it
takes to continue winning. Getting the correct coach to do it is never easy though.

If cuse beat indiana by 17, im sorry to say but we are not beating them and many people/most ny'ers will not pay money to be at the garden and see their team get raped. I will be there because I have season tickets but dont expect a whole lotta red.

Well then, sorry to say, its not "their team"...you're either all in or not...only excuse is being unable ($, family commitments etc...)...and this applies to all games -- not just the big ones...nothing wrong with lack of interest but then its not your team

Exactlyyyyyy Every game in the first 5 minutes we`re always down, we struggle against Monmouth and Longwood. Were down by 15pnts against both Penn St. and Ga Tech.

The way we`re playing Syracuse will be up 20+ with 5minutes to go and they`ll try to clown on us with a dunk afest.

So tell me, why should I spend $40 (which are the cheapest seats), getting pissed with out play, and Syracuse having a good old time and laughing at our expense, hearing their damn chants.

I`m not going through that sorry. Wish I had more confidence but I don`t. I pray that they make me eat crow.
You want to say that I`m not a true fan because of that then I guess I`m not.

If they beat Syracuse somehow, then I won`t say another negative thing about SJU and Lavin as that alone would make my season even if they didn`t win another game. Give me an early Christmas gift

You're not

and people might get the honor of sitting in the same section as mjmaherjr,paultzman,kranmars,olv72,weathermannyc ralph and friends.

I have been a season ticket holder since 2003 and only missed 4 home games since that time. Two of them because of Blizzards in NY, but since 2008 I've only missed 1 home game, and that was the win over Pittsburgh in 2011 :pinch: It was my God son's Christening and there was nothing I could do about it. It pains every-time I hear about how great it was... Sitting through so many tough losses to miss the best game of the last 13 years. I will be there next Sunday and if they win, it will be even better than the Pitt game. I Pray to God that they win...

Our section for Lavin's 1st year was awesome.

Which section you in this year ?

Michigan State just lost to UNC, so Syracuse may increase their ranking with a win over Binghamton.

If you are ok with seats in the $50-$55 range in the 200 section send me a PM. I know someone with extras but he prefers to sell to SJU fans. I don't want to post the info or link for obvious reasons.

There`s one more game before the Syracuse game. If they can play a complete first half (I`m not worried about the second half), then yeah I`d be interested in going. I mean why are they always down alot in the first half? Is it just mental, bad prep by the staff, or just lazy?
I`d think they could play the first half like all the second half.
If we play a crappy first half vs. cuse then you think we`re coming back from a 15pnt halftime deficit?
There is no reason why we can`t have a good half vs. Fordham, so no excuses.

Just give me a reason to believe that`s all I want, because no matter what anyone says I`LL BE DAMNED IF I GO WHILE SAYING TO MYSELF "THEY GUYS HAVE NO CHANCE" So can they for once put on a good performance in the first half against Fordham?????

Let's get past Fordham first, but unless either Syracuse or Arizona loses, Cuse will be the #2 team in the country when we play them. They key is stunting their offense, which isn't nearly as potent as years past. We will struggle with their 2-3 like just about everybody does. Keep on CJ Fair like glue and it will give us a shot at betting em. Should be big Orange crowd, but only way to silence them is to beat em.

Unfortunately simply beating them will only silence their crowd after the final buzzer. The only way to silence them is go up early, stay up by at least a dozen all game, and never let them back in. If that unlikely event doesn't happen, expect their home advantage crowd to be loud as long as its a game.

Last time we beat ND at garden same thing. Don't you love beating a team at a packed MSG where the overwhelmingly pro visitor crowd paid $200+ per ticket to see their boys get whipped? It's the next best thing to beating them in a packed MSG that's 90% SJU fans. As long as people who expect us to lose stay home, that isn't happening though.

May not be as potent as years past, but Ennis thus far is far better than MCW at distributing ball to guys in right places. His assist/turnover ratio is off the charts. Cooney is off to great start, looking like Gerry Mac clone & Fair is Fair. Their inside game at the five is mediocre, but I don't see us exploiting that. The bench with Keita and Grant is competent as well. When you throw in our historically poor offensive production against their zone, I have to believe we will have difficulty keeping this close. If we can't turn them over or penetrate zone, how will we score? Hope I am wrong, but this looks like a 15 point loss.

Up until Dave Bing, Cuse's all time hoops leading scorer was Jim Brown (HoF running back, greatest LAX player of all-time). Their tradition was (and I suspect if they could do it again) football. With JB gone, a few down hoops seasons, and Cuse football doing well, I would not be surprised if their basketball fades back toward their early history.
