Syracuse Game

I know, because I I won`t spend $40 to watch Syracuse spank my team, and watch their fan having a grand old time and yelling chants at our expense as every other year.

I guess you like Syracuse fans rubbing it in your face. That`s another reason I wont go, I`ll snap and brawl with them. I really had enough of them over the last few years.

A real ironic username you're displaying then.

If that is the attitude half of you people have on here you should seriously just drop off the site and go root for fordham or manhattan.

Biggest game of year versus top 5 team and your afraid to go because we might lose. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me, seriously go to the fordham board and start rooting for Pecora. Freaking chumps.

The biggest reason to attend the game is to see an upset and root for your school. THIS IS A FREAKING HOME GAME!!!!

If we play up to our talent and play the way we are capable for 40 min we can beat antone in the country on a given day. Maybe chances are under 50-50 Hey but they can do it Carpe Diem

Exactly. If you go and they get killed that sucks, but if you don't and the johnnies pull a crazy win you will kick yourself for the rest of your life for missing it!

Cuse looked great against Indiana last night, this guy Cooney looks like GMac 2.0 with some hops. I can't speak to anyone else's financial burdens, but we are going to be hosting a top 4, potentially a #3/2 team depending on who loses this next week....Bottomline is - if you can afford to be there and you are a fan of St. John's....you gotta be there.

Speaking from experience, attending the Pitt/SJU came a couple yrs back when they were #4....will never forget it.

Are we huge underdogs? Yes. Is Cuse a better team? Yes. Those things we can't control. But what we as fans can control is showing up and giving our guys a home court advantage, that might even propel us to victory.

Just because we are severe underdogs shouldn't stop us from going to the game. Has anyone been watching college basketball this year!? Upsets everywhere, and Syracuse almost suffered one of them at HOME. Against a team inferior to us. Syracuse has bigger games to look forward to, such as Nova, UNC, etc. but for us, this is our biggest game of the year. This game means a whole lot more to us than it means to them and I hope that shows in the energy levels on the court. I believe we can this game, and I hope the team does to. I can't wait for this game, let's beat Fordham and then beat the orange and their annoying fans!

I have a ticket to the game and am looking forward to it. But I don't think anyone here is in a position to tell others to buzz off or that they are any less of a fan if they don't go. Who cares? Everyone has their own wives nagging them and bills to pay. Plus we have done nothing to garner the attention of the casual fan. Why does MSG and the program deserve the money they get from those ridiculously overpriced seats? Quit badgering people and look at yourselves. Bothers me how petulant some people can be about being a "real fan"

For many St John's fans, me included, it still is hard to believe, let alone accept, the evidence that we were once at the same level as Syracuse in college BB ..We aren't anymore and the drought is now into its' second decade..

Yes, Lavin has improved the program to a mid tier BE level, but Syracuse has elevated into the Duke, Kentucky, L'ville, Mich State, UNC,Kansas,UCONN level.. It's been painful to watch ..And, our downfall was swift and deep..Recovery has not been quick or substantial yet.

12/15 at MSG will be a showcase for college BB in NY.. I wonder if the situation was reversed and Syracuse had fallen off the competitive map for 13 or so years and had the won/loss record we've had in that time period, if the subway alumni for the Orange would be so prominently in attendance?

I'm certain if we had a potential final 4 team again, and Syracuse had been to the NCAA's once in the last decade, there would not be that many Orange sweaters in the GARDEN either. More likely the Garden would have looked like the sea of RED, it was back in Feb 1985 against G'town, when we were the number 1 team in the country.. The Sweater game!

In Team Sports, winning is the driving ingredient in fan involvement, its undeniable.. NY will embrace St John's BB Again when it shows the ability to play a competitive opponent, like Syracuse, and have a even chance at winning. We're not there yet..

If we had started this season like a Villanova, won a tourney, beaten ranked teams, been unbeaten... I think its possible that 15,000 would come out for the game, with a equal RED/orange representation.

It's been games like this in the Garden or other venues against Indiana, Maryland, Kentucky,G'town, Marquette, Duke over a long time span, with blow out losses that have drained even the most loyal fans..

Sure, the Hardy team did a lot to revive the program with quality wins but, those results haven't been followed up yet.. Yes, the buzz did return with that team..

We're all waiting to see it again.

If cuse beat indiana by 17, im sorry to say but we are not beating them and many people/most ny'ers will not pay money to be at the garden and see their team get raped. I will be there because I have season tickets but dont expect a whole lotta red.

A Mike Jarvis fan I see!
How many points did they beat St. Francis by at home?
I hope the red I see is in the Orange fans faces at the end of the game.

So now I'm a Jarvis fan for stating the truth?
You have to be a realist, this team has a lot of potential and I see them beating ranked teams and making it to the tournament but Syracuse is not going to be one of them. We are not at that level yet and that is reality.

I said besides financial hardship no reason not to go if you are a fan.
I attend every home game and games not on the season ticket schedule and I go to plenty of away games as well so I can say I am in a position to say that. If you are worried about them losing go to Fordham games, they'll be happy to take you.

Recruits like to see fan support at games and a great atmosphere. So you people keep complaining but your the main reason why things aren't always so bright. Get off your A$$ and show support.

Call me crazy but I think that St. John's can win. I did not expect Villanova to beat Kansas and I think this is a similar matchup in terms of talent.

There's a big difference between someone saying that it is a financial hardship---or even that they have family obligations---as opposed to someone claiming they are a fan but they will not go because they are tired of losing to Cuse and being humiliated by their fans.

I hate Cuse more than any other team. Jonny Flynn may be my all time most hated player because of his behavior during one of our beat downs. While I hate losing to them, that would not keep me from going. I hope to get some reasonably priced tickets. $40 isn't a bad price at all. I haven't seen anything under $51 but I fully expect to be there.

Buy a mini plan for MSG get 4 games , Cuse game included, seats in the 100's comes out to 50 bucks a ticket approx. Good deal.

I have been a season ticket holder since 2003 and only missed 4 home games since that time. Two of them because of Blizzards in NY, but since 2008 I've only missed 1 home game, and that was the win over Pittsburgh in 2011 :pinch: It was my God son's Christening and there was nothing I could do about it. It pains every-time I hear about how great it was... Sitting through so many tough losses to miss the best game of the last 13 years. I will be there next Sunday and if they win, it will be even better than the Pitt game. I Pray to God that they win...

Hmm, might you be talking about this SimplyRed :furious:

The Jarvis ribbing was in reference to your using the "rape" word! My bad if you do not recall.
No, we are not at the Orange level. Likely never will be with our recruiting having gone south while they just reload every year with top 50 talent. But we CAN pull an upset as SFC almost did. That is all I am saying.

If you are ok with seats in the $50-$55 range in the 200 section send me a PM. I know someone with extras but he prefers to sell to SJU fans. I don't want to post the info or link for obvious reasons.

Single greatest sporting event I've ever been present for in my life.

Had to just rub it in :)
