Syracuse Game Thread

Below is the link to the not so complimentary "St.John's Scouting Report" which appeared in the Syracuse Post-Standard newspaper.

It was not as biased as I expected; fair & balanced even... :)

One poster seems to think Southerland will play: "su-basketball.com is reporting that Southerland is eligible to play. Has this been verified?"

Either way, if Harrison gets hot, we stay out of foul trouble, make our FT's, Sampson continues his progress, O-block-pa does his thing, Frenchie hits a few 3's, we play some solid team D... we will win!!! In other words, a near perefct game.

1. Rebound, rebound, rebound! We need our guards to stay back on the defensive glass to help rebound. Forget the transition game. Just limit Cuses' offensive possessions.

2. Own the baseline. Their 2-3 leaves the baseline wide open. Dom, Felix, Garrett just need to attack it. Forget the jumpers. Just attack it.

3. D'Angelo. Just catch and shoot it. Cuse is too long an will just disrupt him if he tries to dribble. D'Lo drives me crazy but if their was one game where he just needs to let it fly, it's this one. I won't be mad at all if he hoists up 20+ shots.

4. We need a composed Jakarr. This kid gets all types of nervous for big games. It won't happen, but this would be a nice game to not start him and let him calm down a little. If he starts with the hero ball, Lavin needs a quick hook to get him out of there.

Go Johnnies!

This is covering a few points related to this thread.

The 16 point spread is a slap in the face, yet at the same time if they let a 10 deficiti get out of control in the 2nd half, it could be realized. We need to play with our hair on fire and make a statement win or lose by competing for 40 mins.

Garrett struggles against this type of comp. While they need his mins he is more effective against less athletic bigs. That said, I hope he surprises me with 8 and 8.

Foul trouble will be key. Sampson, Obekpa and Pointer need to stay out of it for defensive reasons.

We need to hit shots. Obviously. Harrison and MB from the perimeter to work the zone but we will need 3-4 guys to score.

They are going to have play with maturity, control and they cannot get rattled at the dome. Tough place to play. They are a talented group that will have a tough matchup here to say the least. They need to keep their heads about themselves. Let's go Johnnies. Play hard and smart and I will live with whatever results.

thats ridculous opened at 16.5 hope we kick some ass ag these traitors now 13.5 in vegas
at least the smart money knows the johnnys r better

if marco hits 3 or more 3 pt shots this will give us the ammo needed to beat them
