Color me confused. So ‘rice’ is cooking? No ‘pepper’ in the offing?

Are we feasting on two-minute instant rice... or do we have to wait for a full 16 to 18 minutes for our delicious meal to cook?
Nothing cooks quickly at SJU
Truer words have never been spoken

The best answer - one I accept - whether I like it or not - is that Chris Mullin hired and retains Mitch and that is good enough for me. I’m not stressing over what Mitch does or does not - for me the overriding positive is the JC kid, the Louisiana kid, the red shirts and of course Ponds, Clarke, Simon, Trimble...
The Scales to me - tip in favor of a good 2018-19 year, Ws and excitement.
All the best
Mitch Richmond has been MIA so much that the only thing missing from his St. John's profile is his picture on the following:

General - only way Richmond's absence is somewhat excusable is if there will a new assistant coming on after summer AAU season. Otherwise, more carelessness by university and MUllin to allow this to happen on school's pennies.

It’s one thing to be excited by the current roster and our prospects for next season—particularly if Mustapha is eligible—but it is a bit myopic to not realize that the Staff needs to change to better position the program for the future.
I won’t belabor it, because I’m truly excited by this team, on paper, but 1 season’s success is a highlight, not a legacy.

Paultz, your new avatar is a downer.

And, that one season's success must include a successful recruiting campaign.
While I am excited about the prospect of MH joining the team he is not a game changer but an important piece of the puzzle. How that puzzle is assembled is the key to success.

CBS Sports published a preseason Top 25 on Thursday
Only 1 Big East team (Villanova at #9) made their list
This will be a year of transition in the Big East. It will be wide open.
If MH is eligible, our roster will have enough talent to compete with anyone in the league
The question is whether or not the staff can coordinate the talent into a cohesive group
As many have said, adding an experienced coach would go a long way to making that happen
I'm on pins and needles, Paultz. Can't wait to see movement in the coaching ranks.
I'm hoping, for once, that we get instant "Rice" instead of the slow cooking variety

IF Mustapha is eligible in 2018-19, I believe that his teaming with Ponds, Simon, Figgy and Dixon (and Williams on D) will generate a powerful phalanx of guards and wings that few teams will be able to match in athleticism, talent, scoring proficiency, and defensive intensity.
And yes, I hope that excitement and success produces a great 2019 recruiting class.
Let the games begin and let’s go Johnnies.

Does this mean that the faucet will bring forth the waters of potential recruits?

‘Twilight Zone’ rising Red Storm style. Nothing is simple and fast.

Think it means it might be time for me to see my urologist.
obviously we aren’t talking about Minute Rice unfortunately

Obviously, this needs to happen.
Being patient and even-keeled, with optimism for the 2018-19 season intact, is appropriate.
But, a change in Staff—the addition of an experiemced AC—is IMO, very necessary for St. John’s future.
We are presently at a disadvantage compared to our major competitors.
Just plain silly to continue like this, into next season.
Let’s go Johnnies.

With this potential new AC hiring, who is the odd man out? MR?

We dropped 13 games in a row last year after losing LoVett. A stretch we didn’t have to lose because we looked like world-beaters after that. Those are the areas a guy with experience can help. We didn’t need to lose that whole stretch of games. We didn’t respond well there. Those areas of recovery, preparation and another guy recruiting can help us.

If the inference is that Rice would have had any impact in the 11 Game losing streak , it’s a big stretch . Better to think Lovett might have had a impact in 3 or 4 games or, more . It seems this Board might be split 50/50 as to whether Rice should be hired . A fair assessment , I think . Wins over Duke and Villanova took a lot of sting out of the January doldrums .
