South Fl Transfer

Sense Matt will land him. We'll see.

Uh oh!
You and I have been agreeing a lot. The problem w landing him is you have to figure Lovett is gone.

Lovett started off, after shaking the referees' hands, by looking up at the crowd and blowing a big kiss and holds his arms open. He looked as enthusiastic about being here as anyone on the team. I could be wrong but nothing in his body language indicates that he wants to leave. We'll see.

There was one point in the game after the double techs that he was chanting "Let's Go Johnnies" along with the crowd. Even clapping in rhythm.

Sorry but for me there is no sense.

I would only see it if we will lose two backcourt players, not one. Simon will be available on next season.

If one of the top guards leaves this would be a must get, if it's Ellison or Mussini then it's a nice to have because even with Ellison's improvement it would be nice if whichever of those two is left was just the 5th guard.

Can't see Ellison performing as a 5th guard. Carries himself like he is best guy on the team

He can be the point PF in our super small lineup that will give us an exciting regular season but lose to the first talented 7-footer we see in March Madness.

There is a fine line between self-confidence and delusion.

If Lovett and Ponds both stay, and McMurray and Simon are both on the roster, then Ellison becomes dispensable.

If he leaves moves ahead of Larry Wright on my all time list of players I was upset that left early. Not best just order in which it upset me.
1. Berry
2. Artest
3. Harkless
4. Wright
5. Cook
6. Porter
7. Barkley-this low because you knew he was leaving
8. Jordan
9. Mcleod
10. Sampson

Always love the Paultz avi

.... but really a done deal ??

If this is a done deal, and he's gonna replace someone we don't want to lose, it's going to stink that he'd miss the non-conf games and getting adjusted to game play with the team.

Or even expendable or disposable. ;) :) I have no idea what LoVett's plans are but for those pointing out the fact he looks happy and engaged as an indication he is staying beyond this year I just point out that being happy now in the moment and leaving after the season is not mutually exclusive. He could be figuring even though I'm leaving let me enjoy my time while I'm here. That said I certainly home he stays.

I'm of this view as well. The kid clearly loves being here. But he might also be weighing whether he should start earning money after the season, given his age and folks around him urging that. I don't believe there is any risk of him transferring to another school. It will be to remain here or start making coin. On the latter, I hope those "advising" him understand that there are many benefits to staying in school and working on your game. That may be a better option than playing for $40,000 in some random euro league, in a different country, away from friends/family, and against grown men who have more developed games and bodies.

I was wondering the same thing.

I know a transfer needs to sit out a year (two semesters) but not sure if they need to be enrolled during that time.

Would assume a kid would to get acclimated to school, team etc.

Spring semester starts on 1/16 for SJU.

With 2nd semester starting on Wednesday January 18th, wouldn't he have enrolled already if he was coming to SJU?

Fading perhaps

The optimist in me wants to deduce that this is a positive sign that Marcus will be back next year. The realist in me tells me not to jump to any sort of conclusion. The constant inner turmoil of a diehard St. Johns fan.

If the kid is going the Juco route as Paultz' avatar suggests, I think it's safe to assume that there is an issue with his grades.
