South Fl Transfer

Per Rothstein
South Florida transfer Jahmal McMurray tells me that he will enroll in junior college for the rest of the year & then pick a school in June.

Does that mean he has to sit all next year if he transfers to a D1 school? How many years would that leave him with?

Believe if he completes this semester as Juco in good stead, could be eligible for D1 play January 2018 with a season and a half left at that level.
If that's the case it will enable the staff to see what happens w Lovett at the end of the season. If Lovett leaves we will still have a shot at McMurray.

Sense they have moved on, too "iffy" of a situation.
Hopefully Lovett will stay and his thread is moot.
i don't get all the LoVett leaving talk. He seems happy at games, on his videos and tweets. Damn, he already sat a year and paid his dues. Full steam ahead now.

I'm not familiar with what Marcus parents do career wise, but Lovett has shown a high interest in trying to make money oversees. I really think he loves being here, but if he needs to make money for his family he's going to leave.

To whom has he expressed this high interest? I'm not doubting you, I'm just wondering. I know there has been a lot of speculation on this thread, but I'm curious if anybody has heard (second-hand or otherwise) that Lovett has expressed the desire to leave early to play overseas.
A few weeks ago a very reliable poster on JJ posted that the staff is well aware of the possibility of Lovett leaving for money. Has people in his ear and staff working to persuade him to stay. This seems to be more than internet banter IMO. I also haven't seen one reliable poster come out and say the rumor was untrue.

Has to step up his recent conference play if he's looking to cash in early.

tons and tons of examples of kids leaving too early for a quick couple of bucks to later regret decision. What the hell are the people in his ear thinking? There are so many examples of guys to STAY! At SJU alone there are a bunch. Talk to this kid. LoVett and Ponds are gonna explode with experience and bigs around them. The league is already taking notice. I bet all the hoop mags will have them as a top 10 backcourt next year. Future is bright HERE!!! Do not be premature.

I used to edit an academic journal in the social sciences. What would happen is that there'd be a fact, a simple beautiful piece of unadorned naked truth. Then some chowderbrained sociologist would misinterpret the fact and cite as proof of his misinterpretation the fact. The next issue some other chowderhead would cite the misinterpretation of the fact as the fact, relying on the various advanced degrees of the author of the previous article as proof of its veracity. After a couple more issues the misinterpretation was so ingrained in the literature that they'd cite it as chowderhead et al - they couldn't even bother to name all the chowderheads individually, and their identities would along with the fact disappear into the mists of history while various permutations of the misinterpretation became ever more true.

Could Lovett have said definitively that he's leaving? Sure he could. Or he could have said that he's looking forward to all the delicious Italian food he's going to eat when he plays professionally and after three dramatic episodes of As the Storm Turns that becomes he's gone, he's gone and there's nothing we can do about it. This year I've heard that these players are transferring or thinking of transferring: Lovett, Ponds, Yawke, Missini, Alibagowitch, Ellison and Freudenberg. If so, we're not going to be very good next year unless Matt A has nine backup plans. Know who I didn't hear was transferring? Sima, the guy who actually transferred.

Per Rothstein: "Former South Florida guard Jahmal McMurray has committed to SMU, he tells me. Will be eligible in December 2017. Currently a JUCO".

That is strange. Usually you can't transfer within conference. The JUCO exception seems strange. Maybe South Florida didn't block it with the coaching change. Hope Lovett comes back next year and we sign another player.

Not surprising. Always want to add talent, but this one didn't feel really like a fit for either side. First, hopefully Lovett is back and if he is we are crowded with him/Ponds/Simon in the context of lead guards. Second, if he isn't, I'd actually like to see Ponds spend more time on the ball if not be our primary point. As good as he is off the ball, he seems to create more when he's in that role.

I think that might be a conference rule, not an NCAA one. Maybe that lame conference forgot to add the rule.
