South Carolina Game

I think he will be valuable once he gets up to speed. I'm glad he had the green light yesterday. Only way a shooter finds his rhythm is to get on the court and shoot.

Words of wisdom. Marco is behind the curve due to having sat out the first few games. Guys make concrete judgments about players way too soon.

Really? What do you expect the fans to chant, "Good game SC! We wish you luck!"? Give the student section a break. I'd much rather them involved in the game chanting you suck than sitting submissively in silence.

Because as we all know, the only two options are chanting "you suck" or sitting submissively in silence.

That might be the UNDERSTATEMENT of the century on this board. Two games into the season my boy CJ was on his way to rookie of the year... now the same people are posting he should be out of the rotation.

That was the best game we have played all season and it showed in the scoreboard. The defensive intensity was at an extremely high level, I love the discipline shown when trying to block shots, we aren't constantly leaving our feet on pump fakes, if we do Felix and Jakarr are extremely quick leapers that can recover. The offense was the most impressive to me, did not see that 3 man weave 35 feet from the basket, if we did see it, then it was used as a decoy for the back door cuts that were open all night. Jakarr is a better shooter than Moe, or atleast what Moe showed last season. Phil Greene continues to impress with the mid range jumpshot. Having more depth is clearly helping our fg percentage, since we aren't shooting with tired legs. I forgot who it was that took a charge late in the second half, but we need to do more of that. South Carolina was getting back in the game by just driving to the basket and not one person stepped in to take a charge, we cant always look to block a shot. Felix reminds me a lot of Lavor Postell, the intensity, the leaping ability, the toughness. Once he gets the range on his shot like Postell developed his junior year this kid is going to be scary good!

I've been consistent with Jones since his highlight videos and high school stats were posted. He needs to get a fire lit under his butt. There is no excuse to be that big and not own the glass. I am really hoping he starts to get it.

Anyone know how the SC player who was taken off by stretcher is doing

Wrap-up at redstormsports.com says he was released from hospital an hour after the game and travelled home with his team. Good news.

Great game. If we ever get Garrett and Pointer to have great games on the same night we beat anyone

Agreed, but they both will get it together in time and have consistently good games.
IMHO we now have 3 very good forwards, a great guard and 2 good guards, a good center and a bench with Marco and Jones. If Sanchez ever gets cleared our front court improves as will our backcourt when Jamal becomes eligible in 2.5 weeks. The pieces are all there now we have to get it together on a regular basis. I hope tonight's 25 point win is the start of something big.

I don't know if it will play out like this, but I really hope both Garrett and Pointer are four year players for this team. Both players are long and tremendously athletic and could create major matchup problems for opposing teams. And I think the longer they stick around, the better those two will become. When they become savvy juniors and seniors and learn the nuances of the game, it'll be dangerous.

+1

Bingo! I wish some people would give players more of a chance. Especially, new players (whether, they are a freshmen or JUCO transfer).

Quite a few posters tend to blow hot and cold like the wind. A pancake doesn't flip flop, as much as some do on here. Pay attention, as it's generally the same people.

Could not agree more marillac. There is a reason though that Lav was talkin' this kid up at the start of the year. He saw something in this kid... unfortunately he is a FROSH and he needs to be alot more consistant. The talent is there now it's up to Lav and co. to bring it out of him.

Great win, always good when you can beat a team from a major conference. We need to do something about the rebounding though. I read we were out rebounded 43-21, is that true? I was there last night & I saw SC get a lot of boards but wow, I didn't realize it was by such a margin.

It was actually 43-31. I believed the Gamecocks had 24 offensive caroms. I knew they were a team that hit the offensive boards hard coming into the game.

We did okay in spurts, but still allowed them to get a few, too many boards. Some of their shots were bricks, and richocheting like a bullet out of a gun. LOL But, we still have to do a better job on that end. It's imperative we improve on that end.

It was a dominant performance by our young team. I know that South Carolina is not that good and is not an NCAA team but we beat them the way an NCAA tournament team should beat a team like South Carolina. Especially on our home court. I think we can make the tournament and even win a few games if we get Sanchez eligible soon.
