If you think "you suck" is a terrible thing to say then you are very out of touch. Stop being so sensitive...it's a bunch of teenagers in the student sections and it's what many student sections do. You condemn the students for not coming out, then when they do they get bashed for getting into the game? What you do is set up a damned if they do, damned if they don't scenario. Some people on this forum want to take D'Lo's aggressive spirit and the fans' aggressive spirit away. Why? Stop trying to change people...we NEED aggression and a rabid fanbase. It's like neutering a dog...do you want the team and fans to have no balls? This is Queens. If someone was honestly offended by hearing "you suck" at a sporting event, I would question if it was your first time ever at such an event. Shocked this was even brought up in the first place. It's not like they chanted "suck my d__".

I mentioned Chris when everyone (Marillac) first started getting on Christian. But I do think its just that he gets caught outside the blocks a fair amount. And yes his block leads to breaks etc. That being said it was much improved for both him and others last night where they held their spots well. But still will need constant work.
Just so newbies and youngsters understand what you mean about "THE WORST"....what made him the worst was that he WASN'T. When he FELT like it, he could be a GREAT player. He COULD play defense. He COULD be a great shot blocker. He COULD pass effectively. He just chose NOT too. There's a reference in this thread to Vescey's nickname for him "Joe Barry Apathy". Hall of Fame broadcaster Chick Hearn, who usually found a tactfull way to describe a players failings, simply called him Joe Barry Care-less.
Exactly. It would drive you crazy. And if you look at his stats you'd think this guy was a good to great NBA player. He rarely failed to put up points. Contrast him to Robert Parish. Parish (even old Parish) and Run TMC would have been a dominant championship team. Those guys were just short of that running with two undersized centers. One who had just recovered from brain surgery and the other I think was around 6'8.

You're the one who posted 10 times that there's no difference in schools and that rankings are biased. If that's the case, St. John's fans should try to be as creative as some of the better fans out there. Otherwise, you risk sounding kind of dopey. Just like chanting "U of Gay" or whatever they did last season. I think it makes fans sound like low-class boneheads. That's the best you can come up with?
And spare me the sensitive and out of touch crap. I've been going to sporting events since I was 5 and haven't lived in the suburbs in 20 years. There's nothing I will hear that will shock me.
"He wears shart shorts " is creative, even sportsmanlike 'taunting', and reflective of the educated students we have at St, Johns. You "suck" is crude, unimanagitive, and reflective of unsportsmanlike high schoolers. Those that shouted it would be tossed out of Cameron Arena, the Palestra, Pauley Pavillion by popular demand because winners play there and they have fans that are winners.( I will say they would be applauded at Columbia but that's a total other story).I do think our students need some leadership on their selection of creative derision. Aside from that, they were totally in the game, and that was great for a change. Good for them and us.
Super performance by the Johnnies; perhaps it's the best in some years from the viewpoint of athleticism and teamwork. Rebounding will kill us eventually unless something changes. However, I'm happy with what we saw and, with rebounding, would revise my pre-season estimate to 19 wins.
It was a disapointing crowd with 17% empty seats (1000 "fans"). There was some conversation three years back that we messed up by not building a new gym with 12000 seats to handle the enthusiam of our thousands of fans for the Redstorm. Had we, we would have been 57% empty with this crowd for a significant interconference match up. Hey guys, buy some seats!

My daughter commented on the shorts. When the Student section started their "short Shorts" chant, se said "See, I'm not the only one who thinks their way too short!"
I thought the student section was awesome but I would prefer if they did not chant you suck when SC missed a foul shot. Maybe I am a wimp....
Really? What do you expect the fans to chant, "Good game SC! We wish you luck!"? Give the student section a break. I'd much rather them involved in the game chanting you suck than sitting submissively in silence.
I said they were awesome, I did not say they should be silent. I just think that we can be more creative then "you suck."...
