Imo, far better to have him back w a game under his belt before Marquette game, but of course medical staff should determine where he is w his rehab first.Let him rest until Marquette.
I mean, who could possibly have seen this coming? Totally predictable result of the (poor) decisions that were made.Looks like smith is not coming back any time soon. But I thought he didn’t suffer a setback in the seton hall game. What a bonehead move playing him
However, it would seem that a competent physician should know the difference and not leave it up to a player to decide if he’s able to play, especially with Smith’s competitive nature in wanting to be on the court.Sometimes the onus is on the player to voice when he is not just hurt, but is injured. The staff has to walk a line in identifying this difference. I hope Smith sits the next game, heal up, then go full tilt the rest of the season.
This wasn't a physician issue. Pitino admitted the trainer said not to play him. This was 100% on Pitino for letting a 20 something year old kid substitute his judgment for the medical staff and the adults in the room. Stop me if I said this before, but disgraceful leadership IMHO.However, it would seem that a competent physician should know the difference and not leave it up to a player to decide if he’s able to play, especially with Smith’s competitive nature in wanting to be on the court.

Playing him in that game was ridiculous!!! We need him to get a game in before Marquette. This is getting serious now not having him available.
Not splitting hairs, but sitting him for SH game quite possibly could have increased chances of a sooner, even if not a full recovery. That risk is for med staff to gauge, not staff nor the player.Agree on all points that Deivon should have never seen the floor against the Hall and that’s on Pitino. However to assume he would be 100% by now if he didn’t would be disingenuous.
If that’s the case Beast, then we’re not getting him back any time soon. He might be out for the rest of the season if it’s been almost two weeks and he still can’t raise his arm past his shoulder. That seems to me that it’s not getting any better. I remember him shooting in warm ups before the Seton Hall game. So, if he can’t raise it now then he definitely made it worse playing against Seton Hall. Complete mismanagement of the situation. Better get Lefty some reps because we’re going to need another guard off the bench at some point. There is no clear evidence that Smith playing worsened the injury. Optics aren't good, though. Just heard he can't raise arm above injured shoulder right now.
This may have a silver lining, allowing Richmond to contribute more scoring in the halfcourt, and hasten the development of plsyers otherwise getting less minutes.
Happy you are not my doctor sharing medical test results w me.If that’s the case Beast, then we’re not getting him back any time soon.
