SJU Transfer Targets/Possibilities

We don't need a 7-footer but we need a guy like Nate Watson who is 6'10", mobile, strong with a nose for the basket.  Nate Watson-type would be our prefect center.  He can run the court too.

fwiw Tyson Walker would be a great fit.  Long arms, versatile combo guard.  Great replacement for Dunn and more talented than McGriff.  Plus 3 years eligibility!!  Would be a valuable addition.

Exactly MCNPA, a traditional back to basket center would never fit in CMA's system. A Bobby Portis type would also be perfect.

Exactly, we don't need a plodder but we need a strong kid who is nasty inside and runs the court and is 6'9" or above.

Honestly have to say that it's hard to find a better fit than Tyson Walker for our guard needs.  Kid is a gamer and much more talented than the level he was at.  He would make our backcourt more formidable for sure.

Sense Tyson Walker is in play for SJU
Would make sense for LI kid to want to play final year w/ team offering PT and opportunity to win with proximity to family and friends icing on the cake.

With SH offering plenty of PT, assume we can point to how Posh and Dunn coexisted and thrived

i would love to have Tyson Walker on next years team. He is far ahead of where Dunn was after he left St. Francis College. He is probably ahead of where Dunn was this season as a fifth year player. Lets see what happens.

Not final year.  Three years eligibility left.  Very talented guard.  I hope we get this done.

Only drawback I can see is height 6’0”. Realize that Dunn is only 6’2” but was great defender. Hoping that over time we can get bigger and match up physically

Zero issues with his height.  Posh crushed teams at his height.  Tyson would give us a legit combo guard ala Boatright at UConn.  Kid is legit scorer, penetrate and passer.  He'd be a very legitimately talented addition.  A scoring threat too.  He's better than many realize IMO.

I hope so, out of all these guys mentioned that I went and watched their highlights and looked at stats, he fits the CMA player mold the most.

Only thing that concerns me on his interest level is his high school coach has been on twitter being pretty negative about the thought of him and Posh being able to play together.  I read a couple different posts on twitter he responded to and he seems to be a firm believer that St.John's has their PG already.  Now, I don't know how much pull his high school coach has with where he goes, but I didn't think it was a good sign if he felt comfortable enough to post in public that he really didn't like the St. John's fit for him.

would be unfortunate because I disagree. I think Dunn is evidence that it would be a great fit.  It'd be like the Napier/Boatright combo.  I think this kid translates well as a SG and GWill is a senior.  I still see Pinzon and Champs as two forwards.

I'd love him here, but this is a very delicate negotiation. Does he want to hear a promise that he's a starter? Does Williams leave if he comes aboard?

I guess Walker is a good student if Stanford, Cal, and Northwestern are reaching out.

Very interesting to see Michigan State and Kansas in there.
