SJU Power Forward Portal Targets

I guess you missed my point. I never threw shade on Pitino. In fact, just the opposite. My point is that no matter how you soft soap it, if one program offers thousands more then another, that’s where the kid and his handlers are going, especially for border line NBA talents who see this as an opportunity for financial gain if the NBA opportunity does not happen. Right now and even more so in years to come, unless there is some sort of regulation with regards to NIL the offers will get crazier and the Big Conference, State schools will buy the best teams. For many schools, the money only goes so far, for others, it’s a bottomless pit. St. John’s faired decently with NIL this year but the real question is can they sustain that?
From my limited views of Watkins (YouTube),he is neither a PF or’stretch 4’. Trust Coach Rick. He has another card to play. There’s smoke all over this last player. Coach Rick isn’t telling any of these ‘insiders’ what his plan truly is. Let’s see.

My belief is that the ‘insiders’ are talking to agents/handlers who feed them information to drive up the NIL fee. Most of the info is nonsense. For those here who follow World Soccer, you understand my post.

The man is a HOF and all i can say is he's been up front with Jamir. Don't know what he's telling anybody else but i'd bet it's exactly what he's telling the kids i've had walk in there which is 100% the truth. They will fill the last ship with a quality player. My last comment... those kids that have/will pass on playing here...doesn't mean they are all money grabbing(some are) or that they are afraid of the hard work Rick makes them put in(some are)... most kids just like other places for various reasons and to label tjem
all about money or too soft isn't fair

Not about money? Well unless we are getting the wrong info in the past from yourself at times and others on here, which I don’t believe to be so (I’m sure it was accurate at that point in time) players like Cliff, Omier, Watson (who hopefully we still may get) etc. were said to be heavy leans to St. John’s and then they went elsewhere? I doubt it was about the other school’s better lookin cheerleaders.😂👍

Is the bar that this staff needs to clear for your satisfaction targeting the 5 best players in the portal and landing all of them? Nobody bats anywhere near 1.000 in recruiting this echelon of talent.

I never said or implied that at all. My initial post just pointed out the difficulty of getting 4 and 5 position players cause they seem to be in high demand and command big bucks. Hell even some mid major bigs were getting 7 figures.

With the big numbers that are coming out that players are getting, I find it hard to believe that money is not the primary factor for player movement. And heck, if the system allows it, why shouldn’t these kids get what they can?

I am a bit of a contrarian, as I am happy that SJU has not closed on the last scholarship yet.

This allows us to continue our discussion over what constitutes the prerequisite height of a true power forward, and if making that judgment is sound because we are unaware of which measurement came first, the shoes or the socks.

I think all 79 was saying was that it’s not all about money for some of the kids being recruited. Some are also taking fit and situation into account. Meaning, if we lose out on a kid, I think 79 is saying not to automatically assume it’s cause our NIL offer wasn’t there. Maybe the fit just wasn’t right

The fringe NBA kids should go for the $.
It is not like Robinson Cano taking a few more millions to play in Seattle instead of NY.
You are playing for a year, might as well get paid.

Brazile meeting with Calipari today, fwiw. He also added Texas to be in the mix. per Trilly
