SJU Portal Targets

Not to create controversy but , the announcement on Lefteris seem to indicate he played guard in the Greek League ..

There has to be a lot about him that RP likes as a player . Plus , when he committed he was just 17 years old .

European players are usually sound fundamentally , maybe not as creative or explosive as our kids in the US are … But , they have shown they can play .

Doubt Rick has any uncertainty about him , otherwise he wouldn’t have locked him up so far in advance .

One thing though . I have rarely seen many posts about what kind of year or player that Glover is ?

Likely not going to crack the starting lineup here , although RP has done that on occasion with Wilcher and Dunlap .

The portal is just getting started and until the Merry Go Round stops , we haven’t seen all the entrants yet .
Like last year , there will be some decommits, players moving due to new Coaches, etc

I’m in the group that is trying to understand how Clayton comes here ? Will it be more $$$ ?
What does St John’s offer him the Florida doesn’t ? Also , how high is he regarded right now by the NBA scouts ?

No one disputes he is a terrific player . Likely coveted by many programs if he enters the portal .

Is he that close to RP that he would return to NY ?

This off season is going to be interesting with player movement .
I’ve seen Glover play a few times and can tell you he is borderline 5 star talent who can play with any of them including Edgecomb. I will bet by mid season he is getting significant minutes at both the 2 and 3. And if not, we may have a Big East title contender.😎👍

What does StJ offer that Florida doesn't? ... Rick Pitino.

Also- speaking from recent experience.... and as i am sure many here can attest... once a baby is out of the 'infant' phase and the mother can move around with her whole body hurting... Life becomes much... easier, not needing* the direct assistance of others as much.

A Repole check, Pitino coaching... 9 months in the lovely Jamaica Estates neighborhood... who says no? lol

Reliable feedback that when Kadary goes portal, SJU will have interest. The guy may not play at warp speed, but is a stat stuffer like another slo mo guy back when, Kyle Anderson. Both are awesome rebounders, an asset you never have enough of.
He def brings a "toughness" to a team... a reliable handle... and an alpha mentality....

Just will be another strange one to potentially see in the red/white... with names we are associated with... we trying to form a BE all-star team? lol

Kadary / DJ / B-Hop .... let's see if Karaban is interested lol

Last night, I thought Kadary was great setting others up....something I hadn't really noticed before. 6 assists in the 1st half...not to mention 6 for 7 shooting.

Geez, none of my business, and maybe this is tongue in cheek, in which case I apologize for taking the bait, but how about a father’s desire and responsibility to help raise his child? As a father and grandfather that is pretty important.

Having just spent the day yesterday with my son and granddaughter (ten months now) I agree. The first year children change dramatically and quickly. Mom was away on a business trip this week, unthinkable six months ago. And this not being 1950 day care options are prevalent and young families are comfortable using them.

I have no idea where Clayton will end up but the idea that he is tethered to the State of Florida is not what I would expect.

lol no bait... I am operating under the assumption mother and child would come to NY with him...

I mean... 6 months after our first kid... if I had a 7figure check to go play bball... anywhere... for less than a year... my wife would have the bags packed and flights booked lol...

anywhooo... full confidence in whoever the staff chooses to bring in

Understood and misunderstood originally! 👍

It makes sense for St. John's. He is a fit with RP and brings a skill set we really need. We may value him more than other programs and be willing to pay more. Pure speculation. If true, for Clayton it would be about the $$$. As others have said, it may just be wishful thinking and a pipedream. There will be others who enter that portal.

A strange fit, but I do feel like we need that "alpha" on next year's team and Kadary is that guy. Tough to rely on Sim to make the big leap and be that guy next season.
Agree on Sim. I haven't seen it. But RP has in practice. Given RP's praise of Sim, Sim's highly-regarded recruiting status, and RP's history of players making year 2 jumps, I'd say 20-25 minutes and 12-13ppg is not an unrealistic projection.

Previous posts about questionable fit aside, I could definitely get excited about Kadary. He’s a first team All BE talent and if Rick likes the fit then I look forward to seeing it. Actually think Davis is type of guard you would want to pair with him.

Kadary is a tremendous talent. Big lead guard who can get to the rim and set his teammates up. He's got a role on any offense in the country. From what I gather he has an incredibly sour relationship with Holloway, on top of NIL issues, thus the divorce on the horizon.

It's another head scratcher for me because I think he has an interesting skill set but not sure how it jives with what Pitino wants, and stresses, specifically the outside shooting need. We'll see

Kadary is the alpha we've been saying we need. As other have mentioned there is a bit of a fit question with his inability to shoot paired with RJ and Cliff but damn Kadary + Bensley + Cliff + some athleticism on the wing would be impossible to score against

Getting Kadary would be awesome. Alpha lead guard who can facilitate, play tough defense and enhance our pace. He’s a will your team to win guy.

Surround him + Cliff with some shooters at 1, 2, and 4 and we’re in business.
