SJU Portal Targets

Nice so we miss the tournament and we are getting all of our portal work done before the best teams since they are still playing and can't focus on it! Almost a blessing in disguise to get snubbed! šŸ„“
Unless after those best teams stop playing, some of their best players hit the portal.

Dubar had other good offers out of HS besides Iowa St... W. Virginia, Marquette, Auburn, Kansas St, VCU..

Before committing to Luis SJU should have doctor reports that the shin splints will be a thing of the past and he can practice full time by next season.

Luis is irreplacable? Come on now.
Other then Jenkins, who on the team had a greater impact over games then he did? I guess there are other teams that know his worth based on their NIL offers. I can almost guarantee that if we lose this kid he will be a star and high draft pick in the future, if healthy.

The other thing is,which may be a reason he may leave, if I saw an inferior player starting over me at my position I wouldnā€™t stick around either. Especially if I had the confidence to view myself as a future pro. Sometimes Rickā€™s starting line ups were a bit head scratching to many.

I am sure RP is fair in this process but sometimes kids & advisors go overboard w demands and you canā€™t give house away when you have other ā€œemployeesā€ with their own expectations.
Iā€™m talking with zero inside info. If itā€™s a level of overpay that is absolutely egregious, you have to let him walk. But if itā€™s ā€œmore than youā€™d want to giveā€ but in the ballpark, Iā€™d keep him

Luis is the perfect case study on the state of college basketball. Umass to St. Johnā€™s. Playing for one of the greatest coaches in the sport, had an injury plagued year but showed potential and now just looking to cash in somewhere.

The game is broken. You canā€™t win by replacing 7-8 guys every year. It doesnā€™t work and will ultimately drive Rick out sooner rather than later.

Tell that to Seton Hall. Hoping we donā€™t lose him to another BE team but more likely a power conference.
I know 1 out of 3 times he ABSOLUTELY wrecked Seton Hall, 2 out of 3 times, well, i mean he did suit up . :D I'm kidding I don't like seeing anyone go unless they are an absolute negative/distraction (I did not mind seeing Pinzon go for example).

I get the feeling that Luis and Pitino didn't see eye to eye just by body language in the huddle and Pitino press conference. I mean, Pitino started the year by saying Luis liked to get out of practices and scrimmages with his fake injury. Then 3/4 of the way through when he talked about guys he wanted/expected back Luis was mysterious absent from that list. Then Luis stepped his game up, almost like he was auditioning for a new gig.

Yea, I think itā€™s worth overpaying for that same reason. And he was starting to look much better at the end of the year. He was hitting the boards really hard and clearly taking more pride in his D

Edit: was respdondijg to dkā€™s post a few up
